On June 12, 2017, my elderly mother had an appointment scheduled with Dr. Kyle Michaelis at 3:00 pm. She relies on the Sacramento paratransit for transportation to her appointments, dialysis, etc. In all her years of riding this type of transportation, they unsuccessfully were able to get her to her 3:00 appointment on time. It was primarily the paratransit' fault (her scheduled pick up time was at 1:30 pm). However, when my mother did get to her cardiologist's appointment at 3:20 pm, they told her that her tardiness resulted in having to reschedule her. Shortly after this discussion with the front office receptionist, a medical asst/ nurse came out into the waiting room and called my mother for her appointment. The main complaint here is, at that moment, rather than having my elderly mother who planned that whole day to make this appointment, but due to the paratransit's tardiness, the front office receptionist stated to the person calling in my mom for her appointment, to not call her in, instead, she will be rescheduling her appointment. This said with my mother standing right there! When I learned of this incident, I was amazed on how a medical office has absolutely no regard for these elderly patients and how much trouble they have to go through to make and arrive at these appointments. In addition, this was an appointment made shortly after my mother went into the emergency room due to a cardiac emergency! It's shameful and unforgivable that this office finds it acceptable to treat the elderly this way. In the end, my mother had to sit in the waiting lobby for her return ride back at 4:30 pm.
