You should be so lucky as to have Dr. Castro as your surgeon! Seriously good and knowledgeable, able to listen and respond appropriately to your questions. My heart surgery wasn't the most serious but very concerning to me and the outcome excellent. You couldn't do better.
Dr Castro performed my hemi arch redo 6/25/25. It was the 2nd surgery to repair an aortic aneurysm and my first experience with him. I feel like now my aneurysm has truly been repaired and I can live my life without fear of rupture. Thank you Dr Castro!

Dr. Castro performed a quintuple bypass heart surgery with such precision that I needed only regular over the counter tablets to manage the minimal pain in the legs where veins had been harvested. At 73, I was and am completely free of any chest pain that results from open heart surgery. Dr. Castro's magic hands helped me get through such a major surgery as if it was an outpatient routine visit to Sequoia Hospital, which by the way, is an excellent 5 star hotel impersonating as a boutique hospital . Three years ago, I needed a heart valve replacement. I spent a week in a local hospital in Mississippi waiting for surgery before being dismissed the day before the surgery was scheduled. The surgeon planning to do the surgery was not sure he could perform the surgery successfully with the health conditions I had at the time. After going back home, I searched online to find someone who specialized in heart valve replacements and found Dr. Castro. I called his office and was greeted by a kind lady named Liz. She could tell by the way I was breathing that I was in dire need of medical attention. Had it not been for her, I may have not made it to see Dr. Castro. On Thursday, Liz set me up for an appointment 2000 miles away for the following Tuesday. Dr. Castro spoke to not only me, but my sons, reassuring us that he could do what the surgeons I had previously seen thought was impossible. He and his staff were so knowledgeable and kind. They took the time to treat my like they genuinely cared. He even called me personally after getting back home to Mississippi to make sure that I was still doing well. Not only was his staff very professional, I also cannot say enough about all the staff at Sequoia Hospital. I am not one to make recommendations, but I feel like it would be worth your time, if needing a heart valve replacement, to reach out to Dr. Castro and his staff and Sequoia Hospital. I am very thankful for all they did for me.
