We were blessed to be referred to this doctor for an analysis of a tumor that he removed from my husbands rib, along with partial rib. He was informative, taking his time to explain everything to us thoroughly, as well as patient and kind. His staff as well is professional and thorough. He was able to perform the surgery locally at Loma Linda hospital as opposed to having to drive intoSan Diego, which was a big deal to us. Very happ to recommend him to anyone needing his expertise.

Dr Howe and his staff have been outstanding in the care of my wife. She ask me to share her appreciation and I also want to thank everyone involved. The NPs, surgical and icu nurses. Dr Howe is not only an expert but caring and understanding. His reassurance made my family feel much better as my wife had to go through bypass surgery. The NPs icu nurses, PT, CNAs, all had a hand and were and have been critical in her recovery. This doctor has a fantastic bedside manner and he is an amazing surgeon. Those don't always go together. I am so thankful for this man as he saved my mothers life. I highly recommend this doctor. Brilliant!

These days, it's not often that you find a truly caring doctor or specialist--let alone a cardiothoracic surgeon--but Dr. Steven Howe is someone very special and is a rare find: a surgeon who does CARE and this is evident by the way he treats you. Dr. Howe sees you as a real person and not just another medical file. He takes TIME to really talk WITH you (not AT you), hear your history, concerns, patiently answers all your questions, then helps you to understand your diagnosis (even making drawings on a whiteboard so we could better visualize what's "normal" and what's "me"), and then to discuss options or "what ifs," which graciously included his advice and thoughts relating to some of my other pending health procedures unrelated to his thoracic surgical care. Dr. Howe's attitude is friendly, easygoing and down-to-earth which is a refreshing change from the often "holier than thou / talk down to you" attitude of some specialists from over the years. Most importantly, Dr. Howe was able to determine a correct diagnosis (thereby saving me from a now unnecessary invasive major surgery) after we had previously been given several inaccurate diagnoses by others which had caused us great stress/confusion. How grateful we are to him for the peace of mind and clarity he was able to provide us. I won't go into detail about his impressive education, professional qualifications, specialty board certifications and experience as this is all readily available online or by simply asking his very kind, helpful and professional office staff. And thank you to UCSD Health for providing Temecula Valley residents with the convenience of accessing first-class specialists locally, saving patients the additional stress (at an already stressful time) of a long traffic-congested trip to San Diego and back. Hopefully, you will never need a cardiothoracic surgeon, but if you do, we highly recommend our wonderful Dr. Howe.

Dr Howe is outstanding. But most of his staff are uncaring, inconsiderate, and the best thing this doctor should do is get a new staff!!!
