Dr. Mark W. Cocalis, MD

Dr. Cocalis is amazing and has brought our son from 8% heart function to almost 80% and we have began taking him off heart meds. It has been a long year but I couldn't ask for a better cardiologist at this time. My son has a terminal non curable condition in which his prognosis is not bright but we have been given more time with monitoring and medication. This genetic condition will not be beat but I'm confident that Dr.Cocalis will do everything he can to buy us the most time possible with our son. He just had his 5th birthday and dr Cocalis even acknowledged his birthday with a gift because we were in the office the day before his birthday. Very nice man and he truly cares. I saw a review that he was rude and unprofessional. My opinion is that he may communicate a bit unconventional sometimes but once you know him you know he means no harm. I do not know the situation of the other person but this is my OPINION only. Kane is lucky to have such a great cardiologist.

We first met Dr Cocalis 25 years ago at Balboa Naval Hospital, when he managed our daughter's first open heart surgery. Since then, we've had numerous pediatric cardiologists, cardiologists and other health care professionals, but none even come close Dr Cocalis. To say he's brilliant and dedicated is an understatement. Over the years, we've moved and he's moved, but wherever we are, we consider the travel time and costs to see him as an invaluable investment in our daughter's health. We feel blessed beyond words to have Dr Cocalis on her team.

Remember my 3 kilo baby Daniel Chaidez at San Diego Childrens year2002? He is a single left ventricle. Well the 3 kilo baby thanks to your great work and Dr. Bichell's surgeries my son is here, living with his own heart regardless all the adversity he faced...he is now 21 years old and doing good! thank you Angels!!

I can not say enough good things about this office and team, from Mary Lou at the front desk, to Erica and Dr. Cocalis in the back, they are all AMAZING and always so nice and kind. My daughter has been seen by Dr. Cocalis since she was born almost 3.5 years ago, and every experience with this team has been wonderful. I highly, highly recommend this office!

If I could give him 0 stars I would. His bedside manner is horrible. Rude and unprofessional. Tries to make you feel that your not doing a good job as a parent. I would stay away and find someone else that is compassionate and will provide excellent care. As a parent you do not need the extra stress when you have a child that has health issues.
