Prebys Cardiovascular Institute

I was recommended to Prebys by Scripps Jefferson due to a recent open heart surgery. The waiting room was pretty empty and I waited about 20-30 minutes before being taken into a room. Everyone in the ER were very nice and accommodating, I was seen by Dr. Patel who was extremely thorough. He sat down and talked to me and explained all the testing that I would be undergoing, he was very compassionate and didn't treat me like he was better than me. The only drawback to the place was it was extremely cold but they had plenty of heated blankets to keep me warm. Also, from what I could see the whole place was vey clean including the waiting room. I also received a "get well" card from the nurse manager of the ER department, wow!

My mother has been and since being moved to a different building is still there. She has experienced the most interesting things like being left in her own feces for hours and has bed sores because the nurses were so busy they couldn't change her in a timely manner. Don't dare complain about anything because they brought in a Social Worker, who decided that the very people who were not taking care of her and are guilty of elder neglect have more power than my Mom. They play God in deciding that I her daughter, can not see her. Social Workers are playing with vulnerable people in their dying days. My mom has been a victim of this hospital and her abusers, and they are not allowing anyone in her family to see her. Nurses informed me after trying to visit her that she didn't want to see me. She said she never wanted that? So be careful with this hospital because they don't play by the laws. I am in my 60's and never in a million years would I ever want another family member to experience this kind of abuse. Oh she is capable of making decisions for herself, but the hospital Social Worker knows better than she does. Beware!

My husband was recently in hospital for a very scary medical emergency. The ED was packed, but every point of contact, especially Junior RN, was informative and caring. On admission, the nurses, tech's, and CNAs were on point! Nicole RN and Kim RN provided excellent, diligent care. Thank you again for your kindness and helping my husband in this incredibly stressful situation.

I was a patient for several days on Floor 7 and received the ultimate care from the entire team of doctors and nurses. A special shout out to RN, Kaye, for helping me to feel extra comfortable in a time of uncertainty. I would certainly rate 10 stars for my experience here at Prebys Cardiovascular Institute.

Just got released after having pacemaker/ICD implant. Rae, Kyle and Bernie were absolutely excellent. All three are compassionate caregivers that need to be recognized for their dedication and professionalism towards their patients. I was always kept informed while at ECU #7 and never left in the dark as to what was happening. The entire staff with names I can't remember should feel proud. All medical facilities in the San Diego should be required to go and see how treating a patient with respect and dignity is done. Thank you for making my short stay welcoming and safe.
