Perlman Clinic La Jolla

This was my first time here. I was suggested to come in by insurance and made an appointment for urgent care same day. The entire transaction was very smooth, easy, and convenient. I just want to start off by saying that everyone involved in the process with my experience, from start to end, was amazing. The person that set up the appointment: 5 out of 5. The person who checked me in when I arrived also a 5 out of 5. The nurse or medical assistant, Mia, who helped me was amazing! The provider was also amazing. Everyone was very professional, respectful, and provided a wonderful experience. If you care to know, the reason I gave a low score is because there was a lack of effort when exhausting basic resources. I came to this clinic because I'm not well. I came in because I've been sick. My illness/symptoms have been getting worse, not better. This place was my second opinion follow up..some advice is that you won't lose anything when you do put in some effort to make sure a patient is taken care. You won't lose anything when you do request basic lab work to make sure I'm free of what could be very harmful (bacteria) or even potentially life threatening to me.

I want to say a big thank you to Samantha Arnold and the Modena Allergy and Asthma team for their fantastic service. From the moment I walked into the clinic, I felt the warm and welcoming atmosphere. Samantha was very thorough in addressing my concerns and took the time to make sure I felt comfortable and understood my treatment plan. Unfortunately, I have had a terrible experience over the years with the staff/administration of Perlman Clinic. This is in stark contrast to my experience as Stephen Caso's patient. Dr. Caso is excellent. Perlman Clinic, on the other hand, is not. Several years ago, Perlman Clinic referred me to an out-of-network specialist and the referral was rejected by my insurance. It took them weeks to fix this. Next, Perlman Clinic told LabCorp that I had Medicare even though I was 30 years old at the time. This resulted in my actual insurance company denying coverage for the bloodwork and LabCorp insisting on cash payment. Today was the last straw. I booked an Annual appointment for this morning over a month ago. I confirmed the appointment twice this week. 30 minutes before the appointment, I received a message stating that insurance would not cover the Annual appointment because it was not yet December 2025. This was never told to me when I booked the appointment, during the confirmation text messages, or at anytime before I was literally in the car on the way to the appointment. I immediately called Perlman Clinic, explained the insanity of only letting me know there was an insurance issue the morning of the appointment, and asked them to figure out a way for me to keep the appointment. The person I spoke with told me she would speak with a supervisor right away. She kept me on hold for 30 minutes. I eventually hung up. These are not isolated events. Perlman Clinic is a disorganized mess. I'm sure that I will receive a bill for cancelling this morning's appointment at the last minute; that would be par for the course with Perlman Clinic. While I love Dr. Caso, I no longer feel comfortable staying with Perlman Clinic. The company is so administratively deficient that I think it is only a matter of time before this disorganization affects my medical care. One day, I might need a test or something else done urgently and sent to the correct lab, etc. Given their history, I can't trust Perlman Clinic.

It was my first time visiting a Perlman Clinic and I really liked my experience at the Clinic in the Ximed center (aka the La Jolla location). I actually wanted to go to the other La Jolla location on Ivanhoe (called downtown La Jolla) but booked the Genesee location by mistake. Showed up at the clinic on Ivanhoe and had to call to reschedule my appointment... no problem, the front desk was able to accommodate me a little later. I had the pleasure of seeing Lindzee Baker who was very personable, professional and quite thorough. Her assistants, Chester, Diana, and Erminia were also great. Thank you team.

This was an amazing visit! They had several appointments to choose from and on the same day! Mia was so nice and accommodating. Kassandra Neuendorff was the PA that helped me and she was incredible! She listened to my concerns and had great health advice. My husband is switching to this office as a result of the good experience! Thank you Perlman Clinic!
