Mikhail Malek, MD - Palomar Health Medical Group (Formerly Arch Health Medical Group)

Dr Malek was my wife's doctor for 1 years. He refused to acknowledge that her leaking mitro valve was causing her blood pressure to suddenly drop to very low levels. This caused her to pass out many times. Consequently she broke 2 ankles at different times. Her pressure dropped to 42 over 27. Paramedics rushed her to the hospital to save her life. I told Dr Malek that I had read in the Maio clinic article that the leaking mitro valve can cause sudden drops. Dr Malik told me that was incorrect and that the other 3 valves can cause it but not the mitro valve. We decided to get a second opinion at UCSD. The new cardiologist said it was definitely causing her blood pressure to drop. He scheduled open heart surgery and repaired the valve. She has fully recovered and has no problem with blood pressure. Dr Malik is not a good doctor. Doesn't listen, and is a danger to his patients health and survival. I wonder how many people have died from his incompetence. I visited Dr Malek based on the many positive things I had heard about him. I was not disappointed. This doctor is exceptional. He took time with me, went over all my concerns, and offered solutions. Aside from his knowledge and expertise, I also see that he is a superb gentleman and extremely polished. His assistant is also exceptional and very conscientious. Very happy to be continuing treatment with Dr Malek.

Dr. Malek is very kind and caring. Has your best interest at heart and is very honest. I appreciate the time he takes with his patients & their families in explaining conditions and treatment suggested.

He is concerned about quick fixes, gives you pills rather than listening and coming to a good longterm solution. In my case he kept adding medications when there were indications that they had no effect he wanted, then when there was an autoimmune response that caused widespread neuropathy. He claimed it was not what he prescribed. I had to deal with my primary care Dr to get to a neurologist who is treating the condition. It turns out if he had told me to stop taking the drugs the neuropathy would have probably gone away on its own. I have been in constant pain for over two years due to his indifference. Find someone who cares, is not past their prime and is up to date on the lastest developments and information on drug.
