I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Alhankawi From the very first visit, I felt truly listened to, cared for, and respected. She takes the time to explain everything in a way that is easy to understand, never making me feel rushed or like just another patient. Her expertise in hepatology is outstanding, but what really sets her apart is her compassion and genuine concern for her patients' well-being.

I waited two hours for my appointment with absolutely no explanation or even an apology from the front desk or anyone. I understand that there are things that are out of one's control, especially when dealing with patients with difficult diagnosis but a two hour wait can cause havoc on anyone's day and it is hard not to feel angry or frustrated when no explanation is given. I came in to see Dr. Schultzel he is great.

There was some sort of "issue" during the procedure that resulted in an "aspiration" event burning my throat & vocal cords. I was discharged without ANY written instruction and had a fever while recovering at home within a few hours of the surgery. I tried to seek advice, called, emailed... did not get any sort of reply for 2 days. Had no voice for days after the procedure and could not get any sort of concrete explanation or help. I was treated terribly by the doctor herself during a follow up call and am absolutely horrified by the treatment & lack of professionalism of this place. I would highly recommend to anyone who has to have a routine procedure such as mine, to AVOID at all costs this place. They are just trying to make as much money as they can and patients are simply a means to that end... it was a terrible and dehumanizing experience.

Everything was going well with United Medical Doctors--appointments were smooth, staff was professional, and I felt like I was in good hands. Unfortunately, that all changed when I needed referrals to other specialists. I've now been trying to get those referrals and schedule follow-up care for over five months with no success. I've left messages, followed up multiple times, and still haven't gotten the support I need. It feels like I've been completely ghosted. Really disappointing to go from a positive experience to feeling completely abandoned when I needed help the most.

I went into a surgery center healthy for a colonoscopy with a United Medical Doctor (Encinitas) and came out with aspiration pneumonia. I am concerned that my medical records were not fully reviewed, and the aspiration pneumonia was due to the combination of anesthesia and my abdomen being pressed while I was flat on my back during the procedure, thus causing me to breathe acid reflux into my lungs. This resulted in me waking from anesthesia with a phlegmy cough, hoarse voice, and shortness of breath. I had some vulnerabilities in my medical records that clashed with anesthesia and the position I was placed in for the procedure, but it appears these weren't considered important, if at all. I was told that if I didn't feel better in a while, I should go to an urgent care or ER for an x-ray. Still not feeling better after an hour or so in the surgery center's recovery room, I was wheeled out. I managed to get to an urgent care the next day where I was diagnosed with pneumonia. In checking my discharge instructions and online medical notes, I saw that my problems appeared downplayed and only a portion of what I actually experienced was documented. The lack of documentation of my full symptoms post-procedure would most likely put me at risk for a similar occurrence for a future colonoscopy. Given all these issues, I will not be going back to United Medical Doctors.
