Dr. Sheila Kar in mine n family's opinion is 90% responsible of my mother's death before her heart surgery on 7/2017, she had to take several tests to make sure she was okay to go to surgery. However, Dr. Sheila Kar forgot one test to have my mother take and that was a MRI for her head and brain scan, which after her death, they found that she had had several mini strokes before the heart surgery and Dr. Kar failed to acquire this knowledge. Dr. Karr is also unethical and unprofessional. She accepts gifts from her patients, which I was in office with her and my mother when she was talking to my mother about her health, my mother had made a comment on how beautiful her bracelet was, and Dr. Kar replied with yes, one of my patients gave it to me as a gift and also this necklace, which were both full of jewels, rubies and emeralds and gold. THIS IS NOT ETHICAL N IS STATED IN THE ETHICS CONTRACT..GIFTS ARE NOT TO BE ACCEPTED BY PROFESSIONALS IN MEDICAL FIEDLS. My mother was only a working class woman. She was not rich, she didn't live in a mansion or have a bank account and at the end, Dr. Kar started treating my mother like crap, raising her voice at her and calling her fat, and tell her she needed to lose weight. She used to make my mother cry, but I observed the Caucasian women walking in there with their jewels and name brand clothing and purses, and she used to meet them at the door with greetings of prestige. My mother had a stroke on the table. Doing surgery when they brought her out for recovery. She could not swallow, eat open her eyes or move. She had tubes in her nose and in her throat, she never woke up, but she was in a state of limbo, i had to open her eyes and hold them so that she can see us at least 3 seconds. She would moan, and then Dr. Kar wanted to put a hole in the back of her head to drain fluid, one of the neurologists that we spoke to said what the heck is going on, she didn't need that and who told us she needed that..we told him Dr. Kar told us, he said he was going to speak with her. He said that has nothing to do with her stroke. I informed Dr. Kar and asked her why are you telling the family that she needs to have her head drained when the neurologist told us it was not necessary. She evaded the question and said, If you want to take your mother home, she'll have to be bedridden and have a nurse care for her or put her in a home. My family does not do that. The end of the story is while she was in her room and it was already close to midnight, I was told she choked to death and nobody even knew. I was called at 10 AM in the morning, about 8 hours later. I would just like to make a statement and I'm sure very many people know that if you're not rich and you don't have PPO ins. and you're only on an HMO and you don't have prestige as being rich and in the circle of their society, you get treated like crap and they only do the bare minimum. I'm sure if we were millionaires, like most of those women and men who walked through there, she would have done her best to make sure my mom would have a successful surgery. I truly believe she did not do her best with my mother and until this day, on holidays like this Christmas, we still grieve, my family and I am still angered with Dr. Kar and I still blame her, I had gotten a hold of 2 lawyers, because I was going to sue her for malpractice. My family decided to let it go because it would be too much for us.We didn't want to live through that again. I just hope she's paying for all her mistakes and for her greed, and this is my opinion and how I feel, and what happened. All this was at Cedar Sinai hospital in Beveral Hills. By the way, we live in South L.A.....figure that out!!!
