Hoag Health Center - Aliso Viejo

They charge for everything and more. We realized after visit that they charged $56 to administer the "free" flu vaccine. It would have been free at the local pharmacy. HOAG did not tell us about the charge, we found out when we received the bill. We were also charged twice for a service they performed once. They are investigating how we were charged twice. Nice doctor though.

Go anywhere but this place. You will pay at least 90% less anywhere else. They run this business under their hospital EIN, so you will be billed hospital $$ instead of an office visit. I could have paid 10$ (my co-payment for office visit) for my radiology appointment. I made sure prior that I'd pay my co-payment only then was billed 250+$ afterwards because this was billed to my insurance as a hospital visit. Not sure why I have to pay more because I'm supposed to know going in that this facility is under their hospital EIN. I've been to other hoag offices and have been charged only my 10$ co-payment for various different appointments but this was the only facility I had to pay as a hospital visit. I think the hospital needs to say prior to the procedure/appointment what will be paid. I signed something reflecting this but there was no total amount. They know the procedure I'm doing prior and they have my insurance information prior so I'm not sure why weeks later I get a higher amount than what I was communicated. If I knew before going in I'd pay 200% more than I was communicated I would have cancelled the appointment and went elsewhere as other places don't operate under a hospital EIN. I did call their billing to verify and that's how I found out their company operates under an EIN, someone there did say "you're right you could have went literally anywhere else and paid a lower co-payment" so they are aware this situation happens. Just for this review purpose it's just based on the billing process. Although I'm upset with the billing this place still was a very pleasant experience with the staff and treatment I got but my review is only based on my billing experience. Someone had a similar review to this (which I saw after my appointment) and it has been taken down or removed, I was trying to find it to reply to or expand on.

For the most part the place is OK. However, yesterday when I went in after I made a reservation system I waited in my hot car for over two hours. I was told I had a fever of over 101 which I didn't as I was hot from sitting in the car. At the end of all that I was told all the tests they performed were negative and to go home and wait for other tests results for 3-5 business days without antibiotics or anything. I got work people! I can't just sit home in pain for a week before you decide to help me! In the mean time, I'm getting worse I'm in so much pain I can't even describe. Today, I was told that they can't do anything for me and if I want to comeback. I love our health care system!!! I'm sure I will get a nice $200+ bill for sitting in my car. What a joke!!!

Waiting time is crazy long! I got an online appointment for urgent care and was there on time! After 3 hours I am still waiting to see a doctor! Literally there is no communication about waiting time. I felt nobody was caring about me. Very bad experience! Won't come back here again! Do not recommend this urgent to anybody. I am giving 3 stars only because of the doctor!

Hoag is a great provider. However, if you are a cancer patient with a port and need more care and comfort, go to either Hoag Irvine or Hoag Newport for your imaging services. At Aliso Viejo the wait wasn't long but the technicians didn't seem to care about my discomfort at all during my MRI and CT. They didn't have the necessary materials to access and flush my port so I had to wait in pain while they went to another dept to get them.
