About Dr. Jay D. Geoghagan, MD, FACC

My undergraduate degree is in chemical engineering pumps, pipes and fluid flow. Because of that background, cardiology made sense to me. Cardiology treatments actually matter they extend lives and relieve symptoms. An Arkansas native, Dr. Geoghagan joined Arkansas Cardiology after serving as a staff cardiologist in the U. S. Air Force. He held the rank of Major and was chief of cardiovascular services at Eglin Air Force Regional Hospital when he left the military after 10 years of service.

Dr Gohagan was mine and my husband's Cardiologist at Eglin AFB. My favorite of all time. If not so far to travel we would still be seeing him.

Dr. Geoghagan performed a procedure on a family member yesterday at Baptist Hospital in NLR. We had been nervous about having this procedure done for weeks. The whole experience could not have been better. The hospital was great, every staff member, nurse, even the admissions person was kind, caring and attentive. I was able to stay with my family member the entire time pre-op in the triage area, which really meant a lot to both of us and helped with the anxiety. When they took my family member to the operating room, Dr. Geoghagan came to introduce himself to me personally and said he was heading to meet my family member in the OR and told me how long the procedure was going to take and that he would see me afterward. I really appreciated that. His nurse said I could wait right there in the pre-op area so that when my family member came back to recover, I would be able to be there when they woke up. This also was wonderful. My family member's procedure went very well, was without any complication whatsoever, the recovery was smooth and Dr. Geoghagan came promptly after they were awake to share the results with us which also was good news. The discharge was smooth and shortly thereafter we were able to go home. Nobody wants to go to the hospital and have invasive procedures done obviously but this experience was above and beyond what we could have asked for. We are thankful to Dr. Geoghagan, his nurse Jennifer, and everyone at Baptist Hospital NLR. As a side note the hospital facilities were very clean, easy access and close parking, and the people were all very helpful, pleasant and PUNCTUAL. This place left a very good impression on me and I hate hospitals in general.

I went to Dr. Geoghagan yesterday for the first time and I can't say enough great things about him and the staff! I was nervous as most people are with new heart issues. He was very thorough in explaining what was going on. I felt extremely comfortable in asking any questions. I'm so thankful I got placed in his care. Already recommending him to friends and family. Such a blessing to have a good and caring doctor!

My husband went to Dr. Geoghagan in July of 20. He had a stress test done. They informed him that he needed a stint. While preparing for the stint, my husband had lots of questions. Dr. Geoghagan said "Well I don't think it is your heart. I saw a "shadow" of your gut." My husband said "Well if it isn't my heart, why did you want to do this procedure?" He said "Well, we can go look." Basically he wanted the insurance money. He said he would set up a follow up for a sleep study and never called us back. That "shadow" turned out to be pancreatic cancer. He never cared enough to follow up. If he did, my husband might not be dead right now. He died about 6 months later. So to say I don't like this doctor is an understatement. I hope when he gets sick, he gets the same bedside manner and the same sentence my husband got.

I had a heart attach in 2012 ,later came to little rock area and located Dr Geoghagan. He has been treating me for a cpl years now. After having more recent chest pain, I went in this month for a heart catheterization, he found an artery 99% blocked. He stinted the blockage and I am doing much better now. He and his staff are very caring and knowledgeable. He takes the time to explain wants going on as well as options. Thank you again dock.
