About Dr. Randy B. Minton, MD, FACC

I chose cardiology because it offers the ability to alter the patients course of disease and life both acutely and long term. It is very satisfying to prevent a heart attack with emergency catheterization. Dr. Minton received his medical degree from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences after earning the Bachelor of Science in zoology from Arkansas State University. Following an internship in internal medicine at UAMS, he did residency training at Georgetown University Hospital and fellowships in cardiology at the University of Texas and the Texas Heart Institute in Houston.

I am a 46 year old mother of 4. Long story short-about a year ago I got "diagnosed" via a Holter heart monitor with inappropriate sinus tachycardia. I did not tolerate meds well, but the palpitations stopped for about a year without meds. Fast forward to Dec. 2024 & I go back in to see Dr. Minton because of persistent chest pains with occasional palpitations. Waited in the room for over an hour. Then the nurse came in & gave me an EKG (it was normal) I had other symptoms but wasn't asked any questions. He literally leaned forward at me from his chair & I asked if I had quit smoking yet. I said no sir but I got nicotine patches with intent to quit- but I had some questions about the safety of them since I was having chest pains (which can be a side effect) so I waited to start until after I talked to him. He was very condescending & then proceeded to look at me & say "The best thing I can do for your health is to get you to stop smoking." So, do that & if you still feel like this in a month come back." I was floored. I left, cried the whole 20 minute drive back home. What kind of a Dr. behaves like this. Smoking doesn't cause chest pains. The damage done over time from smoking can. So, he didn't help me one bit & sent me home having chest pains. No option to schedule an angiogram or ANYTHING!?? I've never been treated this way by a doctor. So rude. I am never go back to him. Terrifying.

Having chest pain periodically so Dr Orsini sent me to Dr Minton for a stent after finding a 99% blockage. Dr Minton cleared the 99% blockage to prevent open heart surgery and put a stent in. It wasn't painful and I went home in 4 hours. AWESOME Dr and very good, talked about fishing with him while he did the procedure. Highly Recommend this great Doctor. Paul Harris

Although the wait time was unusually long, all issues, questions and concerns were addressed. Although I continue to have cardiac issues, Dr. Minton felt positive about my current status. He felt comfortable scheduling my next follow up to one year. This news was very rewarding to me.

Dr. Minton has very poor bedside manner. He could never answer certain questions I asked him in regards to why certain issues were happening with my heart rate and bp. I really felt like he lacked the knowledge base for the issues that I experience. But it is really sad that your insurance can be charged for someone like him that maybe stayed in the room with me maybe 5 minutes. His nurses and MA was more concerned about my bp and heart rhythm then he was. I'm sorry I would not recommend him to anyone and I will never see him again. If I could give zero stars I would

Patient

After two mini Strokes, There was no intention on Dr. Minton's part to see what was causing my problem. He told me to come back in a year. Therefore I consulted another cardiologist. He found that I had a hole in my heart. I do not recommend Dr Minton.
