Dr. James Evans at Tucson Heart Group is a joke. Their entire staff is unprofessional and if you are not his M.A. they will not help you. His M.A. Roxie is absolutely rude and gives major attitude and she does not relay messages back to Dr. Evans. I left numerous messages to have him call me back to tell me my results and I called twice a week for a month before I gave up. Roxie kept ignoring my messages and didn't give it to the doctor. I went in personally, but she was walking and talking and just went out of sight. So needless to say I am taking my business elsewhere because of the rude staff. The front desk staff, Anna is also very rude and gives attitude and they really need to find more friendly staff to work for these doctors because they will lose clients at this rate. Dr. Evans is also not what I call a caring doctor. I'm in my 40's and he doesn't seem to care about my cardiac issues because I'm not in the typical age group and I felt like he didn't care for my concerns. He always left the room before I could address any of my concerns. He doesn't tell you he's leaving he just ups and leaves, which I think is all unprofessional. So beware and do your homework before you pick this group!

Dr. Evans and his staff have been extremely professional, caring and consistent. Perhaps the poor reviews were from a time when Dr. Evans was transferring his office to a brand new office with other heart doctor's. Or possibly they were paid to try to sabotage Dr. Evans excellent reputation? The new and the original office staff, as far as I have seen are very very friendly and give amazing service and respect to all of their patients. Everyone that works there is happy, very welcoming and really care about their patients. Dr. Evans is very caring, knowledgeable and conscientious when dealing with his patients. I feel very confident and blessed to have Dr. Evans and his staff making sure that I stay alive!

Cardiologist James L. Evans and his medical assistant Roxie's poor (non-existent) follow through indicate a medical group that cares only about the $$, not the welfare of their patients.
James L. Evans and his assistant, Roxie were negligent in their performances to earn the lowest rating possible. I was referred to Dr. Evans regarding possible calcification of my carotid arteries. Dr. Evans met with me and scheduled an ultrasound to identify the degree of blockage within my carotids. If less than 50% blockage, I would receive a phone call informing me of the actual percentage for baseline; if over 50%, they would schedule an appointment for treatment plan to begin.
No on ever called me with my results. Three weeks after the lab work I had to call them to ask about my results. Roxie's response was that my blockage was less than 50%. When I asked the actual amount of blockage determined, she said that she would get an answer from Dr. Evans and call me back.
I called the office today, two weeks later, to find out that Dr. Evans' excuse for not posting an actual percentage of blockage is that he needs more than one ultrasound test to compare them to determine the actual degree of blockage.
What a crock. If he's able to determine that someone has over 50% blockage, he'd be able to identify other percentages. That office also failed to send the ultrasound images to my primary care physician. They only sent the ambiguous report.
I encourage you to look elsewhere. There are plenty of other cardiologists with much better ratings.

My mother was seeing Dr Evan and liked him. Unfortunately, the reception staff were so difficult to work with we ultimately had to change doctors. It is impossible to leave a message for a doctor and reception staff do not return calls. Dr Evan's receptionist was uniquely rude to myself, my mother, my sister, and the home health agency that cares for my mother. When we made a complaint to Dr Evans about his staff he said he would speak to them but the rudeness and abrupt cancellations of appointments continued. Just not worth the effort.

My internist referred me more than 6 months ago, telling me to expect a call from Dr. Evans' office. No call...I followed up, leaving a detailed message per prompted instruction on outgoing message. No call....As the outgoing recorded message also instructs not to leave multiple messages, I gave up. Then, Pima Heart scheduled me immediately: I see a cardiologist within a week.
