About Dr. Akash Makkar, MD, FHRS
Akash Makkar, MD, is the Director of Arizona Heart Arrhythmia Associates, with locations in Phoenix, Avondale, Tempe, Chandler, Sun City, Dewey, and Prescott Valley, Arizona. He is board certified in cardiology and clinical cardiac electrophysiology. He completed his electrophysiology fellowship at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, one of the top electrophysiology programs in the country. Prior to that, Dr. Makkar was on faculty at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston. Dr. Makkar underwent his internal medicine residency and cardiology fellowship at the University of Louisville, where he served as Chief Cardiology Fellow for the year 2009-2010. Dr. Makkar earned his medical degree from Kanpur University, India.

I am happy to provide insight into my meeting with Dr. Makkar and his staff. Due to conflicts in Dr. Makkar's schedule, he offered his patients a Saturday appointment. I was so pleased with this offer that I scheduled a time to see him on Saturday. Being a new patient, I didn't expect to be greeted as graciously by his staff as I was. They made me feel welcomed and very comfortable as if I had been a patient of Dr. Makkar for years. When I met Dr. Makkar, he treated me with respect and courtesy. He made sure I understood why my cardiologist referred me to him. Dr. Makkar explained step-by-step how we were going to achieve the goal of alleviating my heart of running marathons and slow down to a better pace. After working for a healthcare organization that internationally accredits healthcare facilities, one hears about so many negative situations that I was happy to have experienced such a positive visit.
