Dr. Thomas Roy was not prepared for my appointment again. Not only did I have to point out notes on the CT scan, again, that he failed to notice, but he almost killed me by ordering the CT scan with Nitroglycerin. Which was the entire reason for the second opinion with Mayo. Because I had previously flatlined for 16 seconds during a tilt table test when given Nitroglycerin. At the previous appointment I even asked Dr. Roy if I could be allergic or had an allergic response. Which he dismissed. Luckily the nurse in the radiation lab read my notes thoroughly and had to get the orders changed to NOT include nitroglycerin. Which was a big fiasco! The nurse added it as an "allergy" to my file, which the doctor should have done. When I requested my case be reviewed by another specialist, I was told I would need to get my PCP to request it. He was supposed to give his professional opinion on whether or not I needed a pacemaker, as prescribed by another doctor. Instead I got to endure duplicate tests and more medical bills. Although he could find nothing wrong with my heart, he suggested statins because my cholesterol was getting "close to being high". Dr. Thomas Roy should not be seeing clients face to face anymore. His ego is bigger than Mayo. He is arrogant, dismissive, and lacks empathy. His lack of understanding of standard protocols almost killed me, and when confronted, he blamed radiology. I am left with no answers and more questions to my original needs. Shame on Mayo for never contacting me when I sent this in one of their surveys. Don't ask for feedback if you don't care.

I traveled from out of state to the Mayo Clinic because I thought it was the best. I saw Dr. Naqvi today for atrial fibrillation (AFib). I'm 42, which based on my limited understanding is young to have this kind of heart issue. In any case, I have 3 young kids and a precious wife. I want to be around to love them and help them and I'm worried about my heart. I brought record of the Afib for the previous 8 weeks, including ECG's of each event (32 in 8 weeks). Some were from an Apple Watch and some were from a Kardia 6 lead ECG. Dr. Naqvi was uninterested in the history of Afib or in the data I brought. She glanced at my phone but for only a couple of seconds. She never once asked me about my family history, though I included a detailed account in my pre appointment information. My mom has Afib and congestive heart failure. My grandpa (mom's dad) died of a heart attack at 55. I should have thought of this in the appointment but didn't. Dr. Naqvi was only interested that I have taken testosterone replacement therapy. She didn't ask why I had taken it, but just said that the Mayo endocrinologists almost never give it. Maybe I shouldn't have done TRT, I don't know. I did it under medical supervision and thought I was doing the right thing. Instead of looking at any of the information I had, she told me I needed to take a bunch more tests to show that I actually had Afib and high blood pressure (which is under control with medicine). I guess all of the data I have is wrong, my family practice doctor is wrong, and I'm crazy because I don't feel my heart palpitating (which is always confirmed by my apple watch or Karida). I'm so sad to have waited months to come to Mayo Clinic only to have to start over. I'm an honest person and I feel like the doctor just didn't believe me and refused to look at any information that might counter her preconceived perspective. If you're unsure of what you should do, I'd urge you to consider going somewhere else. I've never had such a bad medical experience. The doctor made me feel like I was lying to her, that what I was experiencing wasn't real, and wasn't important. I do not doubt that she's a capable physician, but she did not care about me.

Scheduled an appointment with Dr. Roy in June for late September. I was a new patient, so I understand there being a wait. The day before my appointment, I get a call that Dr. Roy is canceling my appointment and referring me to a different doctor. What a disrespectful way to treat a potential patient. I'll go elsewhere. Waited 3 months for a doctor to not be a man of his word. What a waste.
