Dr Maulik Shah was fantastic and all two stars go to him. If this review was based solely on him, I would give this 5 stars. Unfortunately, based on my experience "after the fact" with his nurses at the front desk, specifically Kristen, this clinic loses three stars. My husband and I were traveling from California when I brought him into the ER for chest pains. He's only 35 and pretty healthy - long story short, the medical staff caught an early heart attack, operated, and placed a stent. It was traumatic for my husband and I (I'm 4 months pregnant). We stayed the night at the hospital and were seen by Dr. Shah the next day. He was kind, smart, and knowledgeable, so we already felt in good hands. We were advised not to drive back to California for a few days and to see Dr.Shah 5 days later for a follow-up appt. My husband has an in-person job and so we were also advised by Dr. Agrawal to take it easy and to even take some time off work. We stayed put as per doctor's orders and felt good about spending the money out of pocket to see Dr.Shah on the Monday. Monday came around and we got good feedback, paid our bill, and left the clinic. My husband needed a doctors note the next day for his place of employment and unfortunately our phone call with Kristen (nurse at the front desk)was extremely unpleasant and honestly the conversation was shocking. She felt as though my husband didn't need a doctors note and that he could have gone to work the next day after a stent was placed in his artery due to a blockage. To give some context, a stent was put into his LAD artery, he was on new medication, he was still traumatized by the situation, and his arm where the stent was inserted through had swell up and was uncomfortable to even touch. When he asked if he could get a doctors note for just the next day of the operation, she refused and when my husband asked what the clinic expected him to do the next day after an operation, she said "I don't know, not sit on the sofa all day?". I was shocked..Is this how patients are spoken to after a procedure? Was this coming from Dr.Shah? We felt like our conversation with Dr Shah just the day before felt entirely different and we felt as though she was playing gate keeper. We called another well known cardiologist to see what he would have recommended as rest time after a procedure like that, and he said about 2-3 weeks. This nurse suggested for my husband to go to his in person job the very next day of being discharged from the hospital. Why were we told to lay low and NOT drive back to California then? Feeling bad for my husband, I then called back and the second nurse took down my info and never called me back. It's a shame. If we lived in Phoenix, Dr.Shah would have been an outstanding cardiologist that we would have loved to stick with but I think based on this, we would be a little hesitant. The nurses lack empathy and professionalism and that's why I feel like this review needs to be seen.
I cannot recommend Dr. Shah and his office highly enough. I am a physician in the Phoenix area and have shared numerous patients with Dr. Shah and have only been impressed by his patient care. I have also entrusted him with the care of all of my family members who have required a cardiologist. Dr. Shah has an impressive resume, provides top-notch care, and has wonderful bedside manner.
Lovely man, highly educated, too busy to listen, running from appointment to appointment. I booked a meet and greet appointment. A "Fellow" M.D. arrived with questions about my history and my meds, then began telling me how I should proceed. I said wait a minute! Am I not seeing Dr. Shah? I was told yes, and ultimately did where upon Dr. Shah had a different opinion. I was also given an EKG. I booked this appointment as a meet and greet, not a hands on. In the end as if the sands were running thru the hourglass, Dr. Shah bolted out of the room as I was saying wait a minute! I had a couple of questions. Again, lovely man. I realized I was just disposable or maybe just a dollar sign.
My daughter just had cervical spine disc replacement three discs . She was visited today by Dr. Maulik shah and he was very rude and short with her she is in a lot of pain she has rheumatoid arthritis lupus and fibromyalgia she tried to explain to him certain things and he just would not listen he is a terrible doctor. Very rude his bad manners are awful. My daughter called me crying and could not even catch her breath she was hurt so bad she did not need to go through that with this doctor and I hope no one else goes through this with this doctor. Currently at Saint Agnes Medical Center in Fresno California doing his rounds.
