Patient
My mother had a very serious stroke and was hospitalized for a month. We had our first cardiologist appointment post discharge, referral was from the case manager and the importance of this visit was confirmed by her neurologist. We are not medical professionals and besides some cursory research, we did not know what to expect going in. Although not egregious, we both felt the visit was underwhelming and rushed/incomplete. The visit with the doctor lasted less than 10 minutes with very little two way conversation. Three questions were asked by doctor, and my mother's heart was listened to. After about 6 minutes with the doctor, we were asked if there were any questions. I was a bit shocked the visit was being wrapped up. Because of my mother's condition, I have medical power of attorney but was not addressed at any point during the visit. Thankfully I remembered that our neurologist said that my mother would most likely be getting some sort of heart monitor and brought it up at the end of the visit. The doctor said they could order one if we wanted. The process was explained but nothing was explained as to why in relation to her stroke. The doctor was polite and cordial, as well as the office staff and assistants. However, we both left not feeling confident in the role of the facility as well as any sort of mid/long term outlook. We've had nothing but great experiences with Honor Health through this ordeal, hospital, therapy, as well as outpatient specialists, we have concluded that this was an anomaly.
