Dr Kathuria is the best around with his knowledge and experience. Straight forward in assessment of my issue, but listened to my questions and conerns. In fact the whole staff was friendly and helpful at every step. My diagnosis: Aortic Aneurysm with a bad bicuspid valve. Banner Boswell Hospital where my surgery was performed and my six day stay, also gets Five Stars! Highly recommend if needing any heart related surgery.

My story is similar to other reviews on this page: Dr. Kathuria is my thoracic surgeon, instrumental in managing my heart-related challenges and, over time, achieving tremendous improvement in my life and outlook for the future. My challenges included atrial fibrillation, a faulty aortic valve and root, and an aortic aneurysm. My team of primary care physician, cardiologist, and thoracic surgeon Dr. Kathuria helped me navigate through these challenges through lifestyle changes, medication, and surgery in a manner that improved my heart function and daily life to normal, as well as a positive outlook for the future. Post-surgery, my medications have been reduced to just two. Through the pre-surgery, open heart surgery and post-surgery recovery process, I am thoroughly impressed with Dr. Kathuria's surgical skills, knowledge, extensive experience in performing these complex surgeries, honesty, and straight-forward communications. Dr. Kathuria's reputation among other patients, doctors, nurses is noteworthy. He is a true "rock star" in the thoracic surgery community. Dr. Kathuria performs his surgeries at Banner Boswell Medical Center (BBMC). BBMC has a tremendous reputation as one of the premier heart surgery centers in the nation. My perception is that Dr. Kathuria is the visionary and leader of BBMC's heart surgery center. Every aspect of surgery and post-surgery care in the Intensive Care Unit and Progressive Care Unit are managed and maintained at a high level with an impressive level of integration and management. An important, and often overlooked, aspect of post-surgery recovery is the support provided at home and later during cardiac rehab. I received excellent support from SunHealth Homecare visits/consultations, and later during monitored and mentored cardiac rehabilitation sessions at BBMC Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. I came to learn that Dr. Kathuria is the driving force behind the awesome care provided at Banner Boswell. I also learned that Dr. Kathuria performs a higher number of challenging heart-related surgeries in a week than many facilities perform in several months. This contributes to his knowledge, experience and effectiveness. In closing, Dr. Kathuria and his staff have earned my highest level of respect and recommendation for anyone needing the services of one of the best thoracic surgeons on the planet.

I am the wife of one of his recent patients. He and his office were kind and yet professional. While he was in surgery we were updated often and after Dr Kathuria came to let us know what was done and how it went. He was obviously extremely talented and confident. He guides exceptional care during his time in the hospital. Start to finish the care was exceptional.

I had my bypass surgery on the 6th of June 2017. Dr Kathuria did an excellent job, honestly the day after the surgery i barely had a little pain, recovery was without any problem. I was honored that he had operated on me, on a personal level , he is a very nice, professional, humble man . By the way he was named in 2010 the best cardiac surgeon in the valley, and I am sure since than he became even better, lol .

How do you thank a man that saved your husbands life. Our story in short. My husband had a mesh aortic root and a tissue valve installed (pig valve) our Friday night was here and he passed out and just "felt something was wrong" the surgeon that performed his initial surgery said he was "unwilling to help" weather it was because it was a Friday night or whatever. We ended up getting Dr. Kathuria. He was a God send. It turned out my husband had a softball size blood clot that formed in the mesh root valve and he should have died even before surgery... this man saved his life. It was 1:40am when he went into surgery.. he came out ALIVE at 8:09am. I should have walked out of that hospital a widow at only 33 years old (husband is 40) but I didn't.. he took on this crazy surgery and he didn't only save my husbands life. He saved mine and our 14 year old daughters. God love him and his amazing skills.
