When my mom was admitted to Chandler regional hospital, she had severe heart failure. No doctors/ surgeons were willing to take the risk to work or care for my mom. They wanted to send her home with hospice care. Dr. Ly studied my mom's case for days and came back to me with a game plan and we ended up using a trial drug that saved my mom's life. This medication made her heart stronger, and she was able to successfully get surgery to keep her alive! If he had not taken the time to care for my mom, our family and also taken the time to research her case, she would no longer be here with us. I am eternally grateful for this man and the care he has for his patients. Keep up your determination, care and respect Dr Ly!! I'll never forget our conversation in the OR waiting room.

The worst experience our family has had with a physician. Sharing a formal complaint I am filing: I am writing to formally file a complaint against Dr. Suntharo Ly. Dr. Ly performed a cardiac catheterization on a family member on Saturday, March 29th. Dr. Ly's demeanor and responses to our families' questions after his delivery of a prognosis for the patient not only lacked compassion; he was rude, condescending and disrespectful. His handling of the case was altogether unacceptable. You need to be familiar with the details of the case to fully understand the specifics of the miscommunication; however, it appears Dr. Ly did not take the time or put in the effort to fully review our family member's medical history or the current inciting event. He essentially wrote off the patient as having a "horrible" prognosis. When we were all confused by the dichotomy of a "horrible" prognosis but that the inciting event was NOT cardiac, he was steadfast and repeatedly enforced to us he was not going to intervene for our family member. No one asked him to intervene. We were simply asking questions, because that patient is someone who has people who love and care about him very much. He still has plenty of life to live. Dr. Ly wrote him off, and treated my family with utter disregard and disrespect in a time where we were relying on him to help us understand the clinical scenario we were facing. He caused unnecessary confusion and stress. He should be ashamed of himself, and I would be ashamed to have someone so ill-prepared, careless and volatile communicating with other patients and patients' families. He is an exception to every other provider we have encountered with Dignity Health. Yes, our patient has a bad heart, but he does NOT have a "horrible" prognosis from this event. He actually has a completely occluded LAD with enough collaterals the intensivist, Dr. Roach, showed us the films. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any specific questions I can answer. I am happy to help and determined to prevent Dr. Ly from dismissing another patient as insignificant or making another family feel like their questions aren't worth his time. I had a great first visit today with Dr. Ly @ Central AZ Heart. I am a former patient of Dr. Hamburg, whom I trusted & liked very much, so I was a bit hesitant to go with a doctor "new" to me - Dr. Ly immediately put any of my anxieties to rest simply by being an excellent Cardiologist and a very "human" doctor who obviously cares a great deal about his patients. Dr. Ly is very direct in giving a patient information (which I appreciate), so one needs to pay attention because he's giving you a lot of information that's helpful to your specific cardiology needs. I am very glad to have Dr. Ly as my Cardiologist now; I trust him completely and find his care very thorough. Thank you for having very expert Cardiologists at Central AZ Heart in Chandler, AZ.

Dr Ly has been my cardiologist for several years and there is no one else I would go to. He always has time to answer all of your questions and always has a smile and reassuring attitude. Sometimes you may have to wait a little longer than you would like, but always remember he is a heart doctor and you aren't his only patient. He may be called away to emergency room for someone in need. Wouldn't you like to know if you needed him he was there for you? Dr Ly is an excellent physician! His PA, Lou, is wonderful also. Office staff is great. Highly recommend Dr Ly.

Dr Ly is amazing! 3 years ago, I went to the emergency room of Mercy Gilbert hospital and had a very bad experience with the hospital itself. Not Dr Ly. Dr Ly came in and saved me from being messed up with medicine that I was allergic to. I have to say that I was not real nice because I was scared and because of how I was being treated by the hospital, sorry Dr Ly! I didn't trust anyone at the time. He was so great. Found medicine that I am not allergic to, to treat help my heart heal. He also got me into sleep therapy which was needed to help my heart as well. Dr Ly is very direct which some people may have a hard time with, but it was exactly what I needed. He provided so much confidence and treated me and my young family very well. I would highly recommend him! (Past tense because I have since moved from the desert)
