Patient
Had been to my regular doctor, who had given me an ekg because I told him when I was running w/ my dog my chest was tightening. He said my ekg and blood pressure were all fine, but just to be sure he referred me to Dr. Beis. Dr. Beis saw me for less than 5 minutes at the initial appmt. and was told at that time he would help me get my cholestrol down. Later that day, I rec'd a phone call to fast and report to the hospital the next day for a procedure which had not been discussed nor explained even after I had asked what that was all about. When I got there, had no idea what to expect and the hospital had no script to receive me. I was told not to leave and waited from 10 am to 3 pm before I was accepted. Was taken around 7 pm Shocked to be given a procedure without any prior testing and was told afterwards I had 90% blockage. So I asked how did he know and I told him my husband was on his way and would be there any min. He said he had to be somewhere else and left in a hurry. At my 6 mo. evaluation, a medical student was there instead of Dr. Beis who had difficulty with the ekg machine After several attempts he finally got it to work, and reported that everything looked fine. While talking with him, I told him I was bamboozled over this whole ordeal and why was I given this procedure. The med. std. explained that Dr. Beis focuses on prevention med. and because I had high cholesterol and my father had died of arteriosclerosis he found it necessary. Then I requested a conference meeting to discuss my concern. When we met one of my concerns was why I wasn't given any tests prior to the procedure, his response was if you want tests I can have them. He later changed his mind, and said it wasn't necessary.
