When you are an established patient and have potentially life threatening issues it should not take 7 days to talk to a single soul at a huge heart center This clinic likely generates $50 to $100 million a year and they can't afford a single solitary person to answer the phone after hours (today was after hours). However the prior two attempts were actually during open hours. I called around 10 am and 2 pm on successive workdays when they were definitely open. And left messages with the nurse. Evidently If you have a heart problem over the weekend, after hours, or during holidays, you just roll the dice and hope you don't throw a clot while you are waiting 7 days to even talk to a Doctor. I spent 10 hrs in an emergency room and they stabilized things and said I needed to see my heart doc asap. Left a message with the nurse on Tuesday and Wednesday asking for an appointment detailing the concerns. Today is Friday and I called and got the answering service which they told me they can do absolutely nothing. They can't schedule an appointment. They can't talk about anything. They have no knowledge of anything and get this: They can't even take a message. So I asked them why even have an answering service to which she said no problem and hung up. In other words, if you leave a message saying you have a very urgent concern, the nurse may not return your call in a timely manner and maybe not do it at all. It's been 4 days now since I've left messages attempting to make an appointment as an established patient with known heart problems that they are trying to figure out and having a serious event and having to go to the ER and having the ER doctor tell you please to absolutely make an appointment the next day with your doctor. If this type of treatment is acceptable then by all means go to Huntsville hospital heart center. But if you want something different maybe try somewhere different. Maybe try heart doctor that hasn't sold out to Huntsville hospital. It sure looks like this place is all about maximum profits because they have so much money flowing through that place. You pay so much money when you visit them and there should be plenty of money floating around to have at least one nurse on call 24/7. Update: 7 days later I finally get a call from one of the nurses and she was super helpful. After talking to Several people there, it appears if you use the option to leave a message for the nurse it goes into a general mailbox that is not even monitored. Worse I was told messages are lost there all the time because anyone can retrieve a message and then delete it. So HH Heart center: When are you going to fix the phone messaging system? Update 2: Amazing communication since. It appears I experienced an issue that effects holiday periods like Thanksgiving and Christmas. I upped the rating from 1 to 4.

Dr Mccullum and his staff are awesome! They took time to thoroughly listen to my issues and r theconcerns. I have 4 autoimmune diseases that are possibly starting to affect my heart among other issues. I am a complicated case to say the least. The front desk check in ladies are a little rude. I am following up with further test to get more detail on my possible new heart condition.

I was referred to the Heart Center through the Community Free Clinic. The visit was supposed to be at no expense to me through arrangements/agreements with the Clinic. Obviously, I do not have insurance and I don't know if this has anything to do with my experience or not. I went to my first scheduled appointment, but was not seen by the doctor because the administrative staff could not seem to find the correct paperwork from the clinic (several inter office/departmental calls were made). It was offered to me to pay for said visit out of pocket and collect from the Clinic. I declined. After I contacted the Clinic calls were made and the appointment was rescheduled. The doctor ordered a diagnostic procedure which was done on June 19th (Thursday). I was told by the technician that the results would be ready the following day, but it might be Monday before someone contacted me about the results. It wasn't until July 15th (and several phone calls to the Center) that I received a call about the results. I was told that the doctor was referring me to a vascular specialist. I had a follow up appointment on July 21 at the Heart Center. I was told again that he was referring my case to a vascular doctor (and which practice) and that, unless I had further problems, he would see me in a year. I expressed my concern to the doctor and his nurse about having time constraints as Huntsville Hospital had granted me financial assistance, but there was a deadline. The nurse told me that if I hadn't heard anything in about 10 days to call them. After several follow-up calls I was told that nothing could be done to expedite the process. I have checked with the vascular doctors office several times to see if they have received the referral? They have not. It has now been over two months since the test and I have heard nothing. I even called the Center, nearly pleading that the referral be pushed through as expeditiously as possible due to my time constraints and that I am experiencing worsening symptoms. I was basically told sorry, but there's nothing that can be done; that there are only two employees that process referrals and their workload is a heavy one and they can only do so much in a day. I am paraphrasing, but that was the essence of the conversation. As of today, August 22, 2025, I have heard nothing about said referral. I am stuck in a holding pattern of uncertainty and do not know who I can speak to in order to learn the status of the referral. I understand that the Heart Center is a very large practice; however the wait time to be sent to another specialist is unacceptable and those I've spoken to have been little to no help and borderline unprofessional. While I was pleased with physician I saw, the administrative practices of the Center have proven to be atrocious.

I have received great care at THC for several years, but I find their handling of prescription pre-authorizations in 2025 to be very poor. My PBM removed one of my prescriptions from coverage with several weeks of warning. I spoke with the pharmacy team at THC weeks in advance, and they assured me that the prescription refill was still on track; but my prescription was not refilled as needed. I called three weeks later, and spoke with my cardiologist's nurse (Denise) about changing prescriptions. I was not allowed by the operator to speak or leave a message to the pharmacy or my doctor. Denise confirmed that she would submit authorization to my insurance for the replacement prescription, but I have confirmed that the PA request for the replacement has not been submitted now 3 weeks later. I'm at 6 weeks without my prescription dosage or any proactive communication from THC, and I'm really disappointed.

Doctors and staff all friendly and helpful. Only gave 4 stars because of the waiting room furniture. Very old, worn out and uncomfortable. The first chair i sat in had absolutely no support in the seat, I sunk into the center of it like a sinkhole and had a very hard time getting up. Chairs by registration desk had worn spots and cracks in the seat and back. This gave a really bad first impression and made me wonder if I had picked the right doctors office. I liked the doctor and staff, they are very helpful and friendly. The office is organized and runs well, they got approval for a echo in less than 5 hours. I will come back and just keep hoping they will spend some money on the lobby furniture.
