Patient Reviews

Patient

Unfortunately, despite Dr. B.J. Patel being an excellent and highly knowledgeable physician, the overall patient experience in his office is extremely disappointing. The biggest concern is the lack of professionalism, courtesy, and communication from the office staff. The scheduling/front desk staff are consistently rude and unprofessional during each visit. Appointments are often mishandled or inaccurately documented, and instead of taking accountability, the blame is frequently placed on patients. The environment feels impersonal -- there is no greeting upon arrival, only a closed mirrored window covered in signs with instructions. The receptionist opens the window halfway, softly calls names, and immediately closes it again, which feels dismissive and unwelcoming. Patients are required to bring their medication bottles to every visit, even when there have been no changes, and failure to do so results in not being seen -- with little empathy or flexibility in the process. After appointments, patients are often sent back to the waiting area with no clear direction about next steps -- for example, whether to schedule follow-up testing, check out, or simply leave. Communication and guidance are severely lacking, leading to confusion and frustration. While Dr. Patel himself demonstrates strong clinical expertise, the most pressing issue is the office staff, whose attitude, inconsiderate behavior, and poor communication significantly diminish the quality of care patients receive. Compassion, respect, and professionalism are essential in a medical environment -- and those qualities are clearly missing here. Until the staff receives appropriate training or there is a restructuring of personnel, I cannot recommend this clinic to anyone seeking cardiology care. The standard of patient experience is simply not acceptable, and it overshadows the strengths of the physician.

PLEASE TAKE TIME TO READ THIS This whole group is a joke. I had a procedure done. And it cost me one hundred dollars. I got no instructions how to prepare the day of the procedure and did not get the procedure done that day. They charge me $100 anyway. And when I had the procedure at a later date they charge me a hundred dollars again. At another visit they already all had my prescriptions on file, i asked the girl behind the window was she looking a prescription list on the computer then. Yes, you should.Yes but I have got to have another list. But yet they wanted either my prescriptions or a list of them they did not see me even though. I was already there . I live in Cedar, Alabama , which is about a forty minute drive to the doctor's office. Doctor Patel when he comes into the office. It's like he's got his hand on the door and i'm trying to get out as quickly as possible. I was having trouble breathing and I had to go into the hospital to have a stint. I called the doctor's office and told them that I was having some sort of trouble and I needed to see doctor patel before the date that I had schedule. They would not see me so I asked them what my options were. They told me just to go to ER . And I spent three days in the hospital. What I had going on was very serious. If I had waited until the scheduled date to go to the Dr I would have probably had another heart attack. Believe me when I say that Doctor Patel. And his nurses are completely worthless!!! If I could give less than one star it would be a negative number. Dr Patel is a JOKE.

I have been seeing Dr. Bj Patel for years. Him and his office staff have always went above and beyond with my cardiac issues. I am thankful for all of them.

I made an appointment for my dad back in December. I took off work, drove from Birmingham Alabama to take my father to his appointment. His appointment was at 9:45. We arrived at the office at 9:30. We sat there about 30 minutes, was called to the window and told his appointment was at 9:15 cause he was a new patient. No one called me or my father about this change. I requested they squeeze him in cause we got there at 9:30 and they refused. So far my impression of this office is poor.
