This man performed a second pectus carinatum surgery on me that, according to UAB, was not even needed. After the surgery I was in terrible pain that was worse than the first surgery performed by my former, retired doctor. This man told me my CT scan/x ray looked fine and he had no clue why i was in so much pain. UAB confirmed that the hardware that was surgically "implanted" by this man was not intact with my ribs and it was all basically floating around in my chest. I was in debilitating pain because this man is incompetent. UAB informed me that the second PC surgery was not even needed and that movement in my ribs was normal. This man, Dr. Howard, should have been sued. This happened to me about 8 years ago, and I still can not accept that what he did was utter neglect and incompetence. The nurse practitioner that worked under him even made me feel like i was LYING about my pain. The entire time, i had pieces of steel rubbing against the nerves along my ribs. This affected my mental health, physical health, and work performance.

Wonderful Dr. Great bedside manner. I am 57 years old having heart surgery and never had anything wrong with me so I was crying when he came in my room before surgery and he ask why i was crying and i told him i had never had anything wrong with me and he patted me on the leg and told me I was about as low risk as they come which eased my mind and made me feel so much better. Some Dr's wouldn't even ask and i was so thankful for him. He saved my life!

Everyone was professional but could relate the complex medical issues at hand in a way we all could understand. Before we came in for the consult my mother spoke to Vanessa, the receptionist. My mother had tons of compliments for her. She was wonderful interacting with my mother yesterday! Appreciate it because it can be a nerve wracking experience. Vanessa was the comic relief mom needed. Thanks so much to all. God bless all.
