About Dr. Baptist Health Shelby Hospital

Baptist Health Shelby Hospital started as a community hospital in 1959, opening with only 35 beds, 8 physicians and 25 nurses. Shelby Baptist Medical Center has become a cutting edge hospital located in the heart of Alabaster, equipped with 252 beds to care for those in our community, eliminating the need for patients to travel to downtown Birmingham to receive high-quality, compassionate care.

Everyone that I had the privilege to meet and be taken care of in the Emergency room was very helpful and polite. I sure did enjoy being taken care of by Doctor Young and the Doctor who came on duty after Doctor Young. I don't remember my first nurse's name but she was very kind and Mike the male nurse was just as kind. Thanks to everyone for being so kind and thorough with me.I would recommend the Hospital to anyone.

I was told to be on second floor at 8:00. I was there but not sure where to go. Went to radiology department but could not find anyone. I looked around and no one anywhere. Finally I found another employee looking for help but could not find anyone and could not help me. After about ten minutes a very helpful person appeared and was able to help. I was taken to south tower and Was told to please check in there. Was waited on very quickly and told to go back to radiology. If I was first told to go to outpatient check in I would have know how to do that. I then went to radiology and checked in as there was someone at desk at 8:30. I was then taken to get my procedure. Was completed by ultrasound tech very professionally and left within twenty minutes. There needs to be more signage during this construction time.

Going to a hospital for any reason, except to visit and help, is not a trip I look forward to. However, it was necessary for my Doctor to schedule a test that took about an hour to check in and complete the test. The reason for this post is to compliment the personnel that assisted me with checking in through completion of the test. A nurse explained, in good detail, what to expect and what I should do throughout the test. That was half of my personal evaluation. The other half was simply courtesy and perceived compassion for mature patients with health needs. To each of the personnel that I was involved with during this visit, at Baptist Hospital Shelby, I would give five stars.

I absolutely could Not have asked for better care! They were kind, prompt, thorough and caring! The doctor was amazing and showed actual concern and did everything he could to find the issue and treat me accordingly. I would see him as my regular doctor if he had his own practice! The nurses were awesome, as well. I have not one even tiny complaint! Thank you for excellent care and treatment!

Came in due to stomach pain. Was quickly seen to a room, took tests, and had a CT scan within the hour. Doctor Tubbs and the staff were very helpful and professional, explaining all the details clearly. They found the issue quickly and recommended a good doctor to follow up with.
