Patient Reviews

Patient

I had stents put in December 2023. Didn't like that cardiologist. Made appointment with Broilier for January 2025. I'm always early. He was also 15 minutes early. I was hoping to get information about how to proceed after a year. He asked how I was. I said fine, but would like to go off blood thinners. He said okay. Listened to my heart for 10 seconds. That was it. I said that's it? I didn't even get my $35 worth. No discussion other than that I need a statin, which I always refuse. What the heck. My insurance paid a lot of money and I was in his office for maybe 5 minutes for nothing. I don't know all the questions I should ask, but he gave me no information.

My spouse was referred to Broihier for follow up after urgent care visit. HCP spent 10 minutes examining, did not provide any details on ext steps and left before he could ask any questions. Additionally this HCP prescribed medication which was not discussed or counseled on during the appointment. We only knew of this new prescription after the pharmacy notified us. Additionally, the dose was inappropriate for the condition. Lastly, my spouse was directed to contact another office to find a heart monitor. Not only did this other department not answer after multiple calls, and even after personal visit to the department, there was no dedicated staff or clear direction on where to acquire the monitor. After advocating for himself, my spouse was able to get an appointment at another facility 30 minutes away to obtain a monitor. We have no direction on next steps from this provider or his staff. This negligent care model is concerning to say the least. Highly discourage seeking care from this individual as you will be more confused and concerned after your experience then when you started.

I was referred to Dr Broihier by my general practitioner after experiencing severe heart palpitations for weeks. It felt like my heart was skipping every 3rd beat and it was affecting my quality of life. By the time I got in for my appointments my heart had relaxed enough to only skip every 20th beat or so. I anxiously waited in the exam room to see this specialist. He barreled into the room stating in a harsh tone, "Why are you here??" before wheeling around and looking at me. Well hello to you too. He proceeded to reprimand me for wasting his time as every 20th beat is no big deal. If it was every 3rd or something you'd have an issue. I told him that was the issue just 2 weeks ago and it lasted several weeks. He dismissed my statement and continued with his curt and demeaning tone. He never looked at my records or asked me any questions about family history or what I was experiencing. I had been to a cardiologist as a teen due to my mitral valve buckling, had an echocardiogram and was told it may become an issue at some point. Also, my family has a long history of heart problems. He told me it didn't matter and they didn't know what they were doing with echos at that time. I asked if it could be diet or stress. He threw his arms up and exclaimed incredulously, "Maybe. Who knows?!" I barely spoke, but every time I said anything it seemed to be the most annoying thing he'd ever heard. How dare I mention my family having a history of heart problems! I'm the worst. He said if it would make me feel better he could schedule an echo. I said okay. He started to walk out of the room, so I asked if I should set something up with the front desk. He turned and balked "we'll contact you!" Like I was an idiot for asking because it's not weird to walk out of an appointment with no closure or instruction. I walked into this appointment filled with anxiety and left practically in tears. He also never followed up to let me know the results of the echo. His appointment and the echo cost me about $3,000. I paid an arm and a leg for a specialist to treat me like garbage and give me no answers. I'd love to leave this review with Aurora Health Care, but they never sent me an appointment survey and their site states "The survey is mailed to randomly selected Aurora Health Care patients within a few days following their appointment."
