Patient
My first interaction with this doctor were two questions: "Are you diabetic? Are you over the age of 65?" Both are no, and being 20 years old it is quite obvious I'm not over the age of 65. He proceeds to say "There should be no reason you're here then since you aren't diabetic or 65+", but still proceeded to give me a Zio patch. The results were exactly as expected: symptomatic with episodes of tachycardia, and I asked his nurse (a very kind lady) if I could get a tilt table test. She told me that she would inform him of my request and would call me back if he "saw fit". The suspected diagnosis was POTS, and they never reached back out even though they gave me symptom alleviations for POTS. They also told me that a tilt table test would be what's next with these results rather than going down the path of echocardiograms or stress tests. He decided that my symptoms were all from a medication (metformin) that I was informed to stop, but my heart still skyrockets when I stand (60 -> 130) after stopping the medication. The experience overall made me feel invalid and that my symptoms of shortness of breath, chest pains, and dizziness weren't important because of their two requirements: diabetes and old age. So if you don't meet one of these two criteria, I would not recommend this doctor. (I obtained a new referral and now see a cardiologist who is taking my health seriously.)
