About Dr. Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center

When Mother Joseph and the Sisters of Providence founded Sacred Heart Medical Center in 1886, it was a small, 31-bed facility built along the Spokane River. Since then, we've become a major regional medical center featuring the best doctors, specialists and staff around. We're home to a regional cancer center, a transplant center, the only Level II Pediatric Trauma Center and Level IV NICU in Eastern Washington, specialty care, support groups and more. That means you don't have to travel across town or across the state to find world-class medical care - because we're right here, close to home.

Emergency check in and care 5*, Nursing staff 5*, Respiratory techs 5*, I have serious pulmonary issues and asked multiple times through out if I could see a Pulmonologist or related Nurse Practitioner or PA. Apparently you no longer provide Pulmonary Care. Tho the Residency Program is necessary it needs to have side by side supervision. Having different docs coming in and telling you completely different things is not good. Multiple times you could see a "deer in the head lights" as they checked things off in their heads mentally or looking at each other for questions to ask. I asked multiple times for the correct medications for my nebulizer and was not taken seriously. After having extreme bronchi spasms and refusing a neb treatment I finally had a Respiratory tech listen to what I needed and she got it changed in 1/2 hour. After suffering for hours. Sacred Heart is "my" hospital. You have treated our granddaughter for a brain tumor and every experience with her is superb. Bottom line for me personally I will be seeking a new hospital to find one that has Pulmonary staff on board. I felt I was teaching the Residency staff about my condition and what I needed. With the exception of the Senior Resident Female; I can't remember her name. She tried several times to see me although I was either busy doing other medical things when she came or out for testing. I finally met her on my last day and finally felt that she was well educated and able to provide me with education and advice that I appreciated and respected. Unfortunately I met her on my last day, had it been earlier in my stay my care may have better. I am very disappointed in the care provided based on my personal need of Pulmonary Care and if you no longer provide this care I will not be back. I need to find a hospital that provides my specific needs. I appreciate all the hard working nurses to name a few Carley, Kristine, Mark, and the NAC Chloe (what a gem), and another with long hair/glasses, and the gents on night shift. They are hard working dedicated employees!!! The X-ray people top notch! House keeping people very friendly, dietician gal who takes orders walking around so accommodating and helpful, IV RN superb. One word of advice to pass around: if the door is closed when you enter; close to the door when you leave. I got my exercise getting up to close the door and turn off the lights. I'm sure this is an on going issue.

I was very happy with my care at the ER. They have a small space for so many areas of critical care but they work it very efficiently. The EKG, X-Ray and lab areas were conveniently placed near the triage. But I have to say I was most impressed with Dr. Mueller the attending physician. He explained things to me in terms I could understand, and then he took the time to ask if I had any questions. He was down to earth and personable. Overall, I felt well cared for and have no qualms with recommending Sacred Heart.

Compared to Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d'Alene ID and Grittman Medical Center in Moscow ID, Providence is outstanding. The nursing staff was so very caring and accommodating. They never made me feel in the way or hurried. The nurses genuinely cared about my comfort. Also, for being an out patient center, they were very caring and never rushed me to "wake up and get out", which happened at the two hospitals mentioned above and other out patient facilities. They also have very up to date equipment and are progressive with thier care. God bless them all!

My Sister was brought to ER and given exceptional and personal care , she was then admitted and moved to 7 north, where she received such personal care by the whole 7 north staff. They all were so intimate with her care and it felt like they loved her as family. She passed with all the love and comfort we could have wished for . Thankyou 7 north team , we are blessed to have your care.

All the caretakers were exceptional and caring. 4-stars given because of the wait times -- 5 hours in the Emergency Lobby, and 3 hours in the Emergency Room, but the Emergency Room care included tests, etc., but also a lot of waiting, but that's to be expected, as I was pretty low on the triage list. Everybody, from intake; to getting blood drawn; to Catscan and MRI; to Transport; to Nurses and finally the Doctor, were kind helpful and professional. I would definitely trust my care to Sacred Heart, again.
