The Doctors Clinic: Michael Hegewald, MD

I've had a leaky heart valve which was found in the Marines. It was still there during my time in the Army Reserve. I've been seen by multiple Cardiologists. Most had me diagnosed for a pine box. I was so lucky when I found Dr Hegewald in the 90s. He is a super professional, truthful and matter of fact. He told me when it was the time for my Aortic valve replacement. I have been fine since with a few minor issues caused by myself. He's always a phone call or an email away. His staff is great. I am in a old beater of a body, motorcycle accident, multiple surgeries, hip replacement, gerd with mild IBS and still here because of his expertise. Thanx.......

Dr. Hegelwald wanted to bill me for an office visit, so I had lose a day of work and drive five hours just to have the guy tell me he couldn't find anything wrong with me (despite my persistent symptoms), and that my test results didn't show anything. This could've been a phone call. The conversation took less that five minutes. But he insists he "doesn't do phone calls". What gives doctors a right to be so condescending? The tests he had me pay for cost hundreds of dollars, as did the useless appointment. Avoid this guy if you want to get to the bottom of your heart stuff without someone wasting your time and money.

I have wasted so much time for this doctor to spend less than 10 minutes with me over several appointments just to tell me that I'm overweight and just need to exercise and I'll be fine. Nevermind that these symptoms started when I was already regularly exercising and at a much lower weight. I was immediately dismissed when I brought that fact up and just told to go slow with my exercise, because it was obviously just overdoing it.

I am fully in agreement with some of the posts that this guy just doesn't seem to care at all. Appointments seem completely rushed and I find out more information on my condition from reading the Patient notes than I do in meeting with him.

I have always had a good experience with Dr Hegewald and the staff. Their reception desk and nursing staff are great and have a sense of humor. Though Dr. Hegewald suffers no fools, he has had my health in mind.
