About Dr. Glen A. Lutchman, MD

"In medical school I would never have imagined that I would choose Hepatology as a specialty. However I was fortunate to train at the National Institutes of Health and UCSF and was mentored by some of the preeminent Hepatologists in the world. As such I have developed a great interest in liver disease and liver transplant. I find great satisfaction in making a difficult diagnosis and seeing my patients transform after their liver transplant. My research interests are viral hepatitis and liver cancer."

I saw Dr Lutchman when he was in hepatology at Seattle Swedish. He had a great part in saving my life. He's knowledgeable, very professional yet personable, wise and made the decisions that healed me. When I came to emergency with severe and sudden autoimmune hepatitis, I was in dire need of a transplant, and there was one available, but after a couple days my numbers started moving in the right direction. He held off on a transplant I ended up not needing. I would recommend him to anyone who finds themselves in need of a wise DR.. My husband and are very thankful for him and his team. I can't imagine it's easy making life or death decisions everyday. We appreciate him so much.

*UPDATE* I AM STILL MAD AND HAVE NOT GOTTEN OVER IT I was assaulted while under anesthesia during a procedure by Dr. Lutchman. I'm still in therapy to get to the point where I can bring a lawsuit against him and the other people who were in the room when my body was torn. The hospital strung me along for months pretending to be investigating and change their story multiple times before telling me the matter is closed. I can assure you the matter is absolutely not closed. I will have Justice. He has never responded or followed up whatsoever. Move to another state if you need medical care. To whoever replied to this with the complaint email: No. I already went that route, I even believed they were taking it seriously. It took months to heal physically, ruined my relationship, and I am still trying to heal emotionally. The hospital had months of my silence while they promised to investigate. This is public now. Expect to hear from me again.

Was able to get in under two weeks for a 2nd opinion of my Gastroenterologist's diagnosis. Tracy, the first person I talked to was wonderful. She made the appointment and sent me a packet to complete. I phoned back the next day to ask if they had received all of the faxed info from my doctors. Tracy said yes, and that Dr. Lutchman was already going through all of the 50 pages! I was impressed. He definately goes the extra mile in diagnosing. Tracy set up a test for me to take right before my appointment. As I am from out of town, I appreciated not having to drive back again for this test. Dr. Lutchman was personable and precise in going through medical records with me. He even telephoned doctors ahead of my appointment to ask questions. He answered every question that I had, recommended medication and tests that could be ordered near where I live. Again, thinking of me not having to travel far to pick up a prescription or have a test; thoughtful. And scheduled a follow up appointment in six months for a review of my liver condition. The liver team at Swedish is wonderful. A close friend had her liver transplant there and raves about the care she received.

Please Please Please read the other reviews and go somewhere else. They are not competent and really only care about money and their personal liability insurance. It is a long story but the long and short is they are not interested in your well being.
