Dr. Shahryar Mafi M.D.

I'm not a fan of Dr. Mafi's bedside manner with my mother or even his staff. I think he scares/stresses them out honestly. He says rude stuff like, "You're not a good patient" - after his office calls my Mom to take an appointment at the last minute at the end of the year? They aren't prepared either, clearly. Then the nurse practitioner we last saw prescribed a new name brand medicine and it was clear he had chewed out whoever my Mom was talking to, saying she needs to research what alternative med she wants to take and call her insurance. That's YOUR job sir. I just called and left a voicemail to speak with the office manager - again. He needs to remember he works with older, depressed adults that are doing the best they can and him berating them is not helpful or healing in any way.

This was my first visit with Dr. Mafi and his practice. I can unequivocally say from the call to schedule, check-in, nursing staff interaction and actual time with Dr. Mafi, this was a superb experience. I had trouble submitting the online paperwork and even the chat room was great in sending me a PDF to fill out instead. Jasmine at the front desk combines professionalism with humor...a great combo... to make one feel immediately at ease. Dr. Mafi himself took time to listen and explain his recommended plan of care. In short: I highly recommend the good physician and his team.

First I want to say that the staff and doctors have always been very helpful and professional. I recently had a stress test in the office and the technician Percy Vildoso greeted with the most unwelcoming attitude saying "we need to move quickly I am squeezing you in I have another test. I was on-time and my appointment was made weeks ago. He then proceeded to a belt around my torso. I asked him is this sanitary and he stated oh it fine. He had old syringes with blood on it in the window. I will recommend if you encounter him be sure to take precautions for your health. This was by far one of the worst doctors visits that I have ever had.

I have now been to both offices and 100% can say this Dr and his team are TOP NOTCH! Nadia and Monica were so welcoming and helpful, and the Dr took his time with me and answered all my questions. I would highly recommend both the Woodbridge and Stafford office. Nobody likes to go to the Dr, but this team makes it less stressful.

Telling people that they need to lose weight without even asking if they've tried is not a great look. I'm not sure anorexia is great for heart health, but I'm not a doctor. If he'd asked I would have told him the only way I've ever lost weight intentionally was cutting down to no more than 700 calories per day. Cutting back that much lets me lose weight at a "healthy rate" of 1-2 lbs per week. Wish I'd looked up the individual doctors before I went in.
