Patient Reviews

Patient

I have been a patient for five years with this Doctor. At my last visit, my insurance had changed to Medicare. I am a younger person, and I have a disability. Four different staff, including the front desk staff, the nurse, the doctor and the check out staff questioned me in an offensive manner about why I was receiving Medicare, and stated I was too young to be receiving Medicare. They made me feel ashamed of my disability. In addition, the doctor did not address my concerns. This is no way to be treated as a patient who has been coming there for five years. I won't be returning.

Dr. Schwentker was my physician. I made an urgent appointment for excruciating back pain. He refused to order any imaging and instead required 6 weeks of physical therapy. So I went to PT and they said they were not comfortable treating me since it was obviously nerve pain. When I reported this to Dr. Schwentker he again insisted I complete 6 weeks of physical therapy before he would order imaging. I went to another physician who immediately ordered an MRI which showed a herniated disc. The neurosurgeon said I was lucky I didn't have permanent loss of use of my foot due to the delay in surgery. I don't know if Dr. Schwentker is in the pocket of an insurance company, but his motivation is certainly not the best interest of the patient.

I've been a patient of Dr. Schwentker for over 10 years. He is very kind and considerate in his diagnoses and his medical suggestions. He takes time to "listen" to what I have to say and shows his concern and caring for me even if I choose to follow a different path in taking meds. I'm not just another $ to him. Thank you Dr. Schwentker for taking such good care of me. I apologize that I haven't written a review sooner. In my opinion, you deserve ALL 5's.

Patient

If I could give a no star rating, I would. I have been one of his patients for years and of those years, I only see him when necessary. I am not one to run to the doctor for every ache and pain, I usually only go for the more serious of problems. If I see him once a year I'll be surprised. Dr. A. Schwentker, has no bed side manners and lacks compassion to the fullest extent. He's rude and doesn't take the time to listen to anything you have to say. If you ever have the desire to feel like you are burdening someone, go visit him. He will impatiently motion with his hand and then demand that you, "get on with it," when telling him what brought you in that day. He does the absolute bare minimum and then pushes you out the door. God forbid you are experiencing something more serious like chest pain. He won't draw labs to check for any indication of anything serious going on. He won't ask questions to get a better understanding of the pain felt and where or if anything helps relieve it. He won't ask if there's any changes in your life that may be contributing to your problem. Nothing. He is as impersonal as anyone can possibly be. He is absolutely unprofessional, condescending, insincere, and if you inquire about other forms of treatment other than what he is pushing, he becomes loudly argumentative. After finally having enough of his rudeness I asked him politely if I had caught him on a bad day, to which he erupted, belittled me, and gave me every confirmation that he didn't take the time to actually listen to anything I had said to him. In fact, he didn't even as much as review my chart before or during my visit to see what I had updated with the nurse, nor did he review the signs and symptom paper that patients have to fill out when they check in. The nurse and the lady at check-out both spoke to me as I was visibly upset and crying and both ladies commented on how they have known him to be rude before. UNACCEPTABLE!! Dr. Schwentker has NO BUSINESS in the medical profession conducting himself the way he does. I pity his elderly patients (which makes up the majority of who he sees) and am concerned as to how many have died due to his negligence and lack of effort put into their care. Fortunately I am young and can and will be switching to another doctor. Others, whose final years depend on their doctor to fully diagnose and treat them may not be so lucky as Dr. Schwentker is not concerned with the time and care he puts into his patients.

Am very impressed with initial visit with Dr. Schwentker. He was most attentive and patient with what I had to say and very thorough with physical exam. Wish I had met him years ago.
