My PCP referred me to look into a documented congenital heart defect that was causing angina. He is insulting and dismissive about my concerns. Like I was wasting his time. He no longer has to worry about me wasting his time. I would think twice before visiting him. I expected more from the Director of Cardiology at VCU Health. I have no idea how he got this position.
I have never had a worse experience with a Doctor or nurse or anyone working in the medical field. Came in on a recommendation by my primary care physician and Dr. Gertz would not run any test. Gave me a guilt trip for even seeing him and told me I'm 40 years old I'm fine. He even changed my blood pressure reading to much lower on the chart, which I didn't notice until I got home and looked at the MyChart app. I believe that is illegal. I never leave bad reviews but I feel his lack of respect is one thing but more importantly he is a danger to patients he feels the need to judge and neglect medical testing and treatment.
Nastiest doctor I have ever dealt with. This man should be working on fully sedated patients only. Extremely nasty and rude completely lacking compassion or humanity. Purposely used no Lidocaine on the huge spear he put into my neck and told me to "shut up you're not getting any drugs " when I told him I was in agony. I take Naloxone daily which completely blocks the effects of the sedative and an entire team of doctors where there to address this ahead of time and this man refused to consider that I could feel everything he was doing. It was an absolute NIGHTMARE he told me "you were snoring" I told him I can repeat everything you have been saying that's just how I breathe he again screamed "shut your mouth I am not here to have a conversation with you so shut your mouth you just want drugs". The drugs I literally cannot even feel from my medicine....No I was screaming in pain!!!!
Unfortunately all the other 1 star reviews are valid. Had him to consult for a cardiac related issue 6 years ago and he was totally dismissive (despite referrals from multiple physicians about the likely problem), ultimately suggesting I was psychosomatic. I did end up receiving surgery after all. Arrogant, rude, and absolutely no empathy. The experience stuck with me and guess he hasn't changed.
I had him while in hospital after experiencing a cardiac arrest. He was rude and lacked empathy. I told him to leave. Stay away.
