UVA Health Bull Run Family Medicine Manassas

I'm new to the state and trying to find a family care provider for my son and I. What a horrible experience with UVA and all before you can even get in the door... Would've been a new patient today but honestly I cancelled my first appointment the day of. This was due to all the issues I experienced before even having my first visit. The people you talk to on the phone are rude and that's if you can get a hold of a live person. Then what's the point of verifying if they take your insurance before making the initial appointment if they're going to put you as self pay? Then you can't get a person in billing who's even helpful or courteous to clarify the bill you know have posted to pay, again all before I even went to the doctor office. No thank you I'll find another PCP, that's just craziness.

My family had a terrible experience with Dr. Kazmi. After completing a physical with her, we never received any follow-up regarding bloodwork results. More concerningly, she prescribed the wrong medication--something we only discovered after taking the initiative to research it. This could have led to serious health complications if we hadn't double-checked. Despite multiple attempts to reach out, we received no call from Dr. Kazmi. Instead, we were surprised to learn through our pharmacy that another medication had been prescribed, with no explanation or discussion about its purpose from Dr. Kazmi. While we understand that mistakes happen, we expect a provider to take accountability, communicate clearly, and prioritize patient safety. Unfortunately, that was not our experience here. We will not be returning to Dr. Kazmi and do not feel comfortable trusting any future care or prescriptions from her.

Dr. Halyard is the most amazing doctor I've had in my entire life. Before she was hired at Bull Run Family Medicine, my previous 2 doctors were all right, but not entirely the best nor incredibly insightful, or sympathetic towards my chronic illnesses and the myriad of issues I have. But when I had my first visit with Dr. Halyard, she was immediately interested in my symptoms, made sure that I saw she was listening, and explained everything thoroughly with patience and incredible care. I have been with her for a couple of months now and my quality of life has significantly improved. She takes concerns incredibly seriously and is empathetic to what I go through as a young disabled adult. Without her help, I wouldn't have been diagnosed with so many underlying issues from specialists she has helped provide referrals to without any issue or chalking it up to weight or anxiety like most doctors. She's amazing with providing HRT and is a wonderful ally to her queer patients; Dr. Halyard is the most wonderful person and is a blessing to have as a PCP. Dr. Kazmi is wonderful. I've been a new patient of hers for the past few months and I have always been able to get in for an appointment with her. She has also addressed my questions and concerns no matter how paranoid or stupid the questions are. She relates to her patients and make it known that she is here to help them. Even her nurses respond to my messages through MyChart in a timely manner. She went out of town in the winter and let me know ahead of time and gave me options to see another doctor in the office if I needed to do so. The best pcp I have had in years.

Dr. Kazmi and nurse Lali are truly wonderful. The best PCP experience I've ever had. My only feedback is that sometimes it can be tough getting a hold of the front desk to schedule an appt. Sometimes they don't answer or the line is busy.
