Patient
I am writing this review on behalf of my husband. The care he has received at this location has been unacceptable, and this is coming from someone who is a PA. My husband was referred here because his PCP was having difficulty getting his blood pressure under control. On 50 mg of losartan his readings were consistently around 140/90, and any time his PCP increased the dose he would black out. His EKG also showed LVH, so he was referred to Virginia Heart. At his initial visit, Virginia Heart ordered an echocardiogram and a sleep study, both scheduled several months out. He eventually had the echo done and was told everything was normal. When I reviewed the report myself, it clearly stated right ventricular dilation. It took multiple chart messages and a phone call before the doctor finally responded. When he did, he stated this was "a finding associated with elevated blood pressure" and recommended increasing losartan to 100 mg, despite the fact that my husband was referred to cardiology because he blacks out on 100 mg. I can only imagine the substandard care patients receive here if they don't have someone in healthcare advocating for them. We messaged again explaining this, and were told to simply wait for the sleep study results before making any medication adjustments. Then, the day before his scheduled sleep study, after months of waiting, we were notified that the center doesn't take his insurance and he'd need to go elsewhere. That was the final straw. We will be establishing care with a different practice. For the sake of their other patients, I sincerely hope this office improves the quality and coordination of their care.
