My experience was EXCELLENT! Everyone who I interfaced with on Nov 3rd were so customer driven! And ALL the nurses went out of their way to assist me. I couldn't wake up too easily from surgery and they had to dress me and get me to and in the car. They ALL explained everything to me to include the doctors that would be working with Dr. Sharma as well. It was a GREAT experience and I plan to send a thank you to the unit. I'm so impressed!!!

Awful experience at local hospital...
PLEASE share so another mom doesn't end up in my situation.
Im finally ready to speak out. A year ago my baby, family and momma heart were let down tremendously by the medical staff at Spotsy Regional Medical Center. I have held the frustration in for a year. Huddy was born around 8am. I told the providers I didn't like the way his breathing sounded. I was assured it was fine that he just needed a good cough. An hour went by, I told them the same thing and was assured it was fine. 4 hours go by, assured. 5....6......7......8 assured. TWENTY HOURS GO BY. My baby was struggling to breath, had a blue tint to his feet and lips and sounded horrible. I would not lay him down for bed. I did skin to skin and held him in my arms staring at him for hours..... finally 4am on 12/9 comes around mind you he was born at 8am 12/8. I was still awake holding my baby feeling so uneasy no matter how many times I was told it was okay. The nurse comes in " YOU NEED to put him down so you can sleep. It's four in the morning and you're recovering from a C-section and on a lot of pain medication" me " no, I don't feel comfortable. Everyone keeps telling me it's okay. It is not okay" at this point so emotional. The nurse " for your piece of mind I'll go get the spo2 monitor and check it so you'll put him down and sleep" she's back in the room maybe 2 minutes later. She checks it on his foot "61..... that can't be right" me " it seems right to me I've been telling yall he wasn't well all day" nurse " no, I'll recheck on his hand.... 71.... Mama I need to take baby over to the nicu really quick". Takes Huddy out of my arms. I felt very uneasy and uncomfortable like she ripped apart of my heart away. The nurse and a nicu NP come to the room roughly an hour later. Me, still awake worried sick. They say " mom..... we had to do life saving measures, we put your baby on a cpap, he has a collapsed lung and pneumothorax on the left. We had to put a needle in his chest to help him. He will be staying in the nicu a while". To this day I've not once had a return call about my complaint. I have a friend who is a MD and told me "if you would've laid your baby down on his back to sleep that night he would've died. You kept him alive holding him up right and doing skin to skin." Twenty hours my baby struggled. Mommas, listen to your gut and also VCU all the way. Pictures in comments. Also, I got a hospital caused staph infection. The er did nothing cukture, cleaning or antibiotics the first time. Was sent home only to have to go back because it started to open in a spot. Was given antibiotics. No help. Went to my midwife who cultured and cleaned it and it was indeed not better because they didn't test it I was given an antibiotic in the ER that it was resistant to. Lastlyi was there for my scheduled C-section. Contractions a minute apart so I asked if I can vbac. Dr. Scott Walker says "sure but we will send you home now or let's just take you back now and get this done." I was persuaded into it. Later a midwife informed me I could've been monitored in hospital and offered Pitocin to induce labor not just sent home.

I'm not one to usually complain about things often especially when it comes to profanity etc. but this time I was genuinely surprised at how this visit went with being a hospital. My fiance had a recent major surgery weeks back and today she was having unexpected severe pain. Her primary surgeon (doctor) told her to go to the ER to make sure nothing major has happened in the recovery process, so she did. As we sat back there waiting for the doctor staff members outside of the curtain were speaking about personal life matters extremely loud as well as using profanity left and right as if there werent patients that needed to be tended to. I was honestly amazed at how loud and dirty they were speaking. It was no different than being in a loud bar on a Saturday night. It was incredibly unprofessional and I have never experienced anything like this at any hospital in my entire life.
