Anna Baer, M.D., F.A.C.C.

Anna Baer is an excellent cardiologist. My complaint is with her arrogant and incompetent front office. Two of my last 4 visits have been cancelled without notification. Several years ago, I was scheduled for a "stress test". I drove 60 miles and took the entire day off to get to Anna's office only to be told without an apology - that my stress test had been cancelled. It was evidently too inconvenient for the staff that day. Today - 8 Nov. 2025 I was scheduled for an "echo" - the appointment being made 11 months ago. On Saturday, 6 Nov. I get a text, advising me to confirm the appointment -which I did. I could only conclude that the appointment was firm - everything was on schedule. I again arranged to take the day off and drive the 60 miles to Anna's office. Having learned from two previous occasions, I called the office before I left the house - and, you guessed it, the appointment was cancelled. Again without the courtesy of a text or telephone notification. It seems like every time over the past 5 years I've had Dr Baer as my cardiologist - dealing with her front office is anything but pleasant. Cancelled appointments, contradictory text messages and front office staff who act like they are doing you a favor by allowing you access to "your" doctor - you remember, the one you are paying to see. So, I'm done with it. No more Cardiologists of Charlottesville. I am on the search for a cardiologist who has a competent front office and who appreciates that my time is just as valuable as the doctor's. T. Yonkers USAF ret.

I recently saw Dr. Baer after an echocardiogram. She gave me some alarming news,but failed to give me comprehensive information about the results and what they meant. I called to get additional information. Left a message with her assistant, Melinda, but never heard back from either Melinda or Dr. Baer. I'm seriously considering changing to a physician who will take the time to engage with me about my health issues.

Dr Baer is a wonderful physician. And into being a ton of traffic on I 64 was shut down had to be rerouted to 250. My appointment was for 915 for a holter monitor. I called at 8:40 to let them know what was happening with traffic. They told me to keep coming. I got here at 9:30 and checked in. The Stacy person checking me in said to me we'll have to see if they can see you. I explained that I did call and was told to keep coming. 15 minutes later, Stacy still hasn't said anything to me about being seen today. She just told me do have a seat? I went up to the desk to inquire Laureene Already said i already checked in. I acknowledge that and she said that Stacy has the answer for me. Stacy sitting at the desk, never looked at me and then said something I didn't hear us and Laurene confirmed that they could see me. . I find it very unprofessional and disrespectful of me as a patient and my time as well. I did explain to her It takes me an hour to get here and I sat in traffic for 40 minutes. I do understand they do have appointments to keep, but I also understand a few times I've been here I've never been taken exactly at the time of my appointment. It's always been later. 15 minutes later, I had to walk up to the front desk to see if they're going to see me instead of her, letting me know that they were going to see me. They are able to fit me in. 45 minutes after my arrival I still have not been seen. A holter monitor only takes minutes to Put on a patient. Stacy provided very poor customer service at the front desk.

Dr Baer is a kind soul. She is very smart and will refer out if she feels she needs to. She is very straight forward and is not afraid to even tell you things that are good for you even though you don't want to hear them. She is honest and does the treatment she thinks is best for you.

Absolutely terrible, DO NOT GO TO HER for the love of God. I've been working with a family member to get care from Dr. Baer and she ignores insurance companies calls, her staff frequently lies about what they've submitted to insurance. She doesn't know about the latest science/treatments. She is dismissive of requests. Won't do normal paperwork I've seen all my doctors do. Does she even care about her patients? Do you have a soul inside your body Dr. Bear? Where's your empathy? Is anyone home inside that head of yours? Does your staff realize that people's health is on the line? Just absolutely terrible. Unbelievable. I will be filing a complaint with the licensing board.
