Patient
The staff members in this care facility are very friendly and helpful. I am grateful for their support, including the front-desk staff and the nurse. My annual physical exam visit to Dr. Kurella was an entirely different experience. A friend had suggested her as a primary care physician, and the office was very close to my place. Yet, I was shocked by Dr. Kurella's incompetence and misbehaviors. Throughout our session for the annual exam, which was much shorter than the ones I had had with other primary care physicians, I was shocked that she was always with the computer, never sat down, and never made eye contact with me. She also did not listen to me and cut me off many times. I had been struggling with some severe health issues, and instead of listening to me, she just got obsessed with "lack of sleep quality" and went on and on about it. Although I explained to her many times that my sleep problem was connected to other serious issues, she continued not listening to me. She was very disrespectful through the entire session. When I tried to make her focus on my serious issues, she rudely told me, "I have many patients; I don't have time for you." She refused to include blood work requested by other specialist doctors (such as my thyroid specialist). I was almost about to cry as she told me several times that she did not have time for my detailed blood work. When I told her that my specialist doctors and insurance folks wanted me to have extensive blood work that day (and that she had nothing to lose by checking the requested blood work), she informed me again, "I don't have time to interpret detailed test results; I've many patients." She then suddenly left the room without greeting me. Just like there was no "Hi, how are you?" there was no "Bye, have a nice day." I was utterly shocked. I never saw such a rude and unfriendly doctor. I had a horrible day, which psychologically affected me for many days. Then, when the test results came out, she purposefully refused to call me and interpret my results. After a week, when she jotted down some notes (the clinic had told me the typical timeline is 48 hours after the test results came out--so clearly, she discriminated against me), she misread my results. One of my specialists was shocked to see her misinterpretation. Overall, I wasted my annual physical exam visit--none of my severe issues and symptoms were discussed during the meeting, and my ongoing problems were not attended to. As myself a Dr. and a researcher, I suggest that Dr. Kurella would be thoroughly audited with relevant experts. The level of incompetence and misbehavior is unacceptable. Being a primary care physician is a serious issue, and Dr. Kurella does not meet any of the basic requirements of this noble profession.
