Michaela Johnson is amazingly outstanding in ALL respects. She's extremely knowledgeable, has critical thinking skills and splendidly applies them in her thinking and identifying root causes of various outcomes leading to an accurate understanding of a patient's needs. She has a caring attitude, communicates extremely well, is encouraging and most important, competent and highly professional. She's A++++ across the board in all she does, which is a lot!

The last few times we met with Michaela for my mother, we had no problems and she was great, but we don't know what the deal was this time. My mother is 81 years old, hard of hearing, and other issues so she requires a power-a-power of attorney to be with her at her appointments. My sister and I are her powers of attorney. I am normally the one to be there with my mother but I was unable to be there this time so my sister, her other power-of-attorney, was present. They both told me they had a bad experience with Michaela this time which really disturbed me. My mother has difficulty with asking and answering questions so my sister was expressing some concerns and asking questions, but they both felt like Michaela was just laughing at my sister, not taking her concerns seriously and was just acting like she thought my sister was just being ridiculous. My sister, as my mother's power-of-attorney, felt like she was being very disrespected, not listened to, and that her concerns were not being taken seriously. My mother has a mild issue that Michaela was trying to put her on multiple medications for. I have the same issue only much worse but I have never been put on multiple medications for it. My issue has resolved with the use of only one medication that I was started at a lower dose and allowed to work up to the desired dose. One of the medications that she wanted to put my mother on, which was fine, was the same one that I am on, only Michaela was insisting on having her start at a really high dose without working up. We never agreed on the second medication because it has a lot of bad side effects and we did not feel it was necessary for her to be on two medications for her mild issue. We can't even pronounce the name of the second one. In her previous appointments we had never agreed on multiple medications and were never given a prescription for the second one, but Michaela was trying to push it on her. I used to work pharmacy so I know all about medications. My mother is very stubborn about taking medications so trying to get her to take one is a chore and a half, much less trying to get her to take a second one. My mother's issue is so mild that we did not feel that it was necessary at all for her to be on more then one medication. We had a lot of questions and concerns that my sister was trying to express and ask questions about, but they said that Michaela was not wanting to listen, not taking their concerns seriously and kept trying to force the second medication on my mother that we did not agree on. They said that Michaela just kept not listening and kept quoting guidelines. You don't treat patients with a one size fits all guideline and force medications on them and you don't disregard patients concerns, and you don't disregard patient's right to express concerns about their own health, even when it is with the aid of a power-of-attorney or care giver. This was uncalled for how this happened. Physicians are supposed to listen, be respectful and take concerns and questions seriously and address them. I was very disturbed by this and this needs to be addressed. I need to know that my mother is getting proper care and not being forced on unnecessary medications and that things are being done right, not based on the pharmaceutical money game.

I really had a good appointment with Michaela. She listened intently, discussed the problem I had in a way that I could understand and spotted another problem that she addressed. I felt very comfortable talking to her and felt that I was heard. I highly recommend her.
