I have had symptoms of weakness, dizziness, and fainting with even small amounts of walking or standing for about three years, and they have steadily worsened. A few weeks ago, I fainted, vomited, and turned blue. Despite this, the doctor's recommendation was simply diet and exercise.
I explained that I have already lost 55 pounds, which is documented in my chart, and I still do not feel any better. In fact, I have been larger in the past and felt much healthier. When I shared that any attempt to "push through" results in fainting and vomiting, he still told me to try exercising more.
I asked directly how much more weight, or what percentage, I would need to lose before we considered other options. He could not give an answer. Instead, he said that 55 pounds should be enough for me to feel better, but maybe the weight loss "just hasn't settled yet."
This was dismissive and discouraging. I came in hoping for answers or at least a plan for further evaluation, but I left feeling that my serious and dangerous symptoms were brushed off and reduced to a weight issue.

Good map of IMED campus online (attached), so a person can get to the right building.
For someone mobility-impaired, valet parking is great, with valet locations marked on the map, and tips not accepted! Somehow, my records preceded me for check-in, so no last minute paperwork on my first visit. Perfect!

I am always amazed about surveys about physicians. I am very much alive and feeling great. Much of this is due to Dr. Brian Crandall. Dr. Crandall and his staff are genuinely attentive and clear and concise with the diagnosis, procedure, and instructions. You can engage him in related issues or questions with no sense of invading his time. He has learned that when he is with a patient, that individual is the most important person on his radar. He is focused, kind, and honest.

Very friendly and efficient. All staff were incredible and made me feel safe. Macy was my intake nurse and did stress test with a great Ultrasound RN or tech. Both were fabulous. Sorry I am bad with names. The person checking me in to MD appointment releasing me was so funny! Made me laugh which is so great when you are in for tests! Dr. Crandall was friendly and positive. Thank you everyone!

Dr. Crandall was very helpful in his descriptions of the upcoming outpatient surgery and his accommodations to my needs. His excellent assistance is consistent with the assistance I have gotten from the Heart Failure and Transplant IHC team. So far I am very pleased.
