Patient
We had a very disappointing and unprofessional experience with NP Amber Higgs. We confirmed this appointment in advance and made sure her staff understood that my father's heart monitor results might not be in yet. My parents even traveled for this visit before returning out of the country. When Amber entered the room, she did not introduce herself or acknowledge anyone. She immediately stated that there was "nothing she could do" without the results and that the appointment would need to be rescheduled. When we explained that my parents would be leaving the country within days, her response was simply, "I don't know what to tell you," with no effort to problem-solve or offer any alternative. When my father asked for a temporary refill of his blood pressure medication to avoid interruption while abroad, she said, "We don't manage blood pressure," and did not offer guidance or support. The interaction lasted only a few minutes and was handled with a level of detachment and disregard that was honestly shocking. We are people of color, and her body language and tone made us feel unwelcome and judged from the moment she entered. Whether intentional or not, the experience felt dismissive and biased. Even the staff later implied they would not schedule us with her again, which speaks volumes. Unprofessional, unkind, and not someone I would trust with my family's care. Would not recommend.
