Laura Fernandes, MD, FACC

I switched to Dr Fernandes from another cardiologist - and it was the best decision. She listened carefully to all my symptoms and did a very thorough exam ( even noticed a very slight difference in my thigh circumference and inquired if I had any prior injury - which I did 20 years ago to my knee ). She came up with a concise plan of action with appropriate cardiac testing and explained the course of treatment she would initiate based on test results. And I can't say enough about Heidi, her office practice manager. She went above and beyond to help schedule testing within a short timeframe and promptly answered followup questions. Highly recommend!

My wife scheduled an appointment with Dr. Laura Fernandes. We filled out all the requested online information, including indicating OSCAR GOLD ELITE Insurance. We arrived for the appointment, and the receptionist asked us to fill out all the information again, only to tell us after at least 30 minutes that Dr. Laura Fernandes no longer accepted OSCAR GOLD ELITE insurance. Since the insurance information had already been provided at the time of scheduling, this is a huge lack of respect for the patient who booked this time for the appointment, who traveled 45 miles from Katy to The Woodlands. And OSCAR GOLD ELITE Insurance doesn't keep its network doctors updated. This is the second time we've scheduled an appointment and the doctor is no longer part of the insurance, despite still being listed online on the OSCAR GOLD ELITE website and app. DISGRACEFUL.

Dr. Fernandes was very thorough, explained everything, is very personable, & did I mention THOROUGH? I feel confident she can help me live a long healthy life. Update: I was in a serious vehicle accident several months ago and was hospitalized about a month, mostly in ICU. Dr. Fernandes found out where I was and visited me almost daily for the rest of my stay. She wasn't treating me at the time; she just came by to say hi and see how I was. It was great to see her smiling face and hear her say how I was looking better. I've never heard of a doctor doing anything like that.

I love Dr. Fernandez but her staff is awful! I've waited for six weeks after 5 to 6 phone calls to them to schedule a procedure that Dr. Fernandez had asked for, now I've called three times for refills to the prescriptions due to the fact that the staff rescheduled me for a month out from when the original appointment was. After calling them yesterday and checking with the pharmacist today, they still have not called in those refills so basically I'm not on medication due to the fact they can't call those in. They try and steer you to her PAs as opposed to seeing the doctor and the PAs are not good in my most recent visit with a PA. She walked through the door and said "I guess you're here for a follow up, but haven't read your chart" .At that point, I requested doctor Fernandez as she was standing outside the door with her staff, I'm very disappointed I understand that doctors are busy, but when the staff does not support the doctor, then patients are forced to find another doctor.

Endless phone tag. They leave a vm to call back but you never get the person you need to speak to. Sked was at 9a staff called to come at 8a but never got to see the doc. She's definitely over books her patients.
