South Texas Health System Clinics - Gastroenterology

Dr Pettle cancelled on me a few days before my colonoscopy & I was given the choice to see another doctor or reschedule. I had already made plans for my husband to be with me (his work schedule) and didn't want to reschedule. Dr Pettle asked me some questions about my ObGyn and why he hadn't taken measures when I told him I had some bleeding. He started putting him down and questioning his professionalism. My ObGyn was more worried about my endometriosis and some other serious issues with my uterus and needed to address those other things first. My first and only visit with Dr Pettle was not a very good one, then he canceled my colonoscopy with him. I ended up having the procedure with a woman Dr in the same practice who had the worst dry personality I've ever experienced with a Dr. This office diagnosed me with diverticulosis and then never addressed it again. No medications, no dietician going over diet changes, no other directives. Now I have diverticulitis and am in so much pain. This was the worst Dr I could've gone to! Find somewhere else to go. This place is just awful!

I'm joining those that have given poor reviews. I rarely write negative reviews, but I couldn't help myself with this reoccurring issue prevalent throughout the Rio Grande Valley. That is, very poor follow-up and a "could care less" about patients. They want your money but they could care less about service. The doctors, especially with South Texas Health Systems, appear concerned with just pushing you through and the doctor admin and office personnel, OMG, are even worse. They never pick up the phone. They don't return phone calls. I even called South Texas Health administration. Of course, they put me through so I could leave a message which, of course, was never returned. What makes this such a huge issue for me is that I have been waiting two weeks for test results when the doctor was supposed to have received them the same day of the test. In an area that really needs great healthcare, there is none. It's appears to be "just a job" and nobody cares. What a shame. Guess I'll make the 4-hour drive to San Antonio. Much better reviews and they appear to care.

No joke, Dr. Pettle saved my life. For several years I had experienced a few times where once taking a bite of food, the food would get stuck halfway down my esophagus. I'd immediately start choking, unable to breathe, and would regurgitate my food and any stomach contents out. Come December 2019, everything stopped being able to go down from water to the smallest particle of food. I was even having a major problem breathing. Upon being administered overnight at McAllen Medical Center, Dr. Pettle immediately did an endoscopy and fixed major issues within my esophagus and stomach. He's put me on life-long medicines that I'll need from here on, but he saved my life. Folks, Dr. Pettle is my angel, he's very knowledgeable, caring, understanding, and will explain everything to you in great detail. I'm lucky to have been saved by him! I highly recommend him to you.

Horrible facility. Horrible patient care . Horrible service . My dad is a cancer patient with limited speech and vision . This facility and Dr Pettle REFUSED to serve and care my dad because he missed 2 appointments due to his condition . Not because my dad wanted to miss them maliciously , but because he could not attend . Yet , nurse and Doctor REFUSED CARE when he needed it . Pathetic .

DO NOT go see the doctor he does NOT CARE!!!! He Performed surgery on my Mom on Saturday placing a PEG tube in her stomach which is causing serious problems, He has refused to call us back since then despite numerous calls to his office.
