Patient
I had a procedure scheduled 5 weeks in advance. Around 3:30PM the day before my procedure they called to tell me I needed to be rescheduled because they were still waiting on approval from my insurance company and that they could get me in the following Tuesday. 6 days later. Natural I called my insurance company demanding to know what the holdup was because I had met both my deductible and max out of pocket. Turns out The Heart Center of North Texas did not request authorization from my insurance company until 2:11PM the day before my 8:45AM procedure. Calling me around 3:30PM less than 90 minutes later to tell me that my insurance hadn't responded to their request for authorization. They forgot to get approval in a timely manner and wanted to shift blame to my insurance company. The question I want you to ask, is the same one I had to ask myself. What if I absolutely had to have something done and they forget to get authorization and push me back. What if that 6 day delay cost me valuable time to diagnose and treat what's wrong. I was lucky my procedure was more exploratory than necessary. They are heart specialists they can't drop the ball on the most important thing in your body. Ultimately I don't trust them anymore, especially with them trying to shift blame to someone else. I will not be a patient anymore. My heart health isn't worth the gamble, is yours? I would finally like to say that my experiences with the doctor was good. Its ashame that the front office doesn't take their work as seriously.
