We had a wonderful experience with Dr.Pilgrim at the Southlake location. I felt very comfortable with the actionable medical advice received by him and look forward to implementing it in my kiddos daily life. I really liked his vibe and general whole demeanor.
I was so excited for my kid to see this new to the area adult congenital heart specialist after she had just aged out of her pediatric heart doctor. This was the beginning of the pandemic where she experienced lots of abnormal symptoms after a viral infection that was still yet to be named at that time. The first visit with Dr. Pilgrim went fine, tests checked out normal and chalked up her debilitating symptoms to "anxiety" and sent us on our way without any real help for her symptoms. After ER visits and seeing other two different cardiologists besides this guy, my adult kid was finally diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome or POTS. Year two rolls around and at this appointment with Dr. Pilgrim he was very Misogynistic in his tone with her (a young lady I might add) as he's asking questions and this time chalked up her same debilitating symptoms to "mild weight gain" after tests he ran were again normal from a functional standpoint and nothing to offer help manage her symptoms. I asked him pointedly if he doubted her dysautonomia diagnosis and he matter of factly said "Yes, I do not believe that this adult has POTS". He is very much a typical medical gaslighting doctor when he cannot figure out a proper diagnosis for complex illnesses and lets his ego get the better of him instead of researching how to help his patient. He was very bold and very comfortably cold with talking down to both of us women. Be warned.
Our son is complex with his primary diagnosis being HLHS. Dr. Pilgrim is very knowledgeable and does a great job answering our questions and helping us prepare for the future. He seems to genuinely care for his patients and we really appreciate that.
Dr Pilgrim has been great for me and my kids. Me and 2 of my children both see him. Very knowledgeable, kind, takes his time, and thorough. Renee Bursey
