Dr. Wai Shun Wong leads an excellent team of surgeons, nurses and other support staff in providing heart-health guidance for patients suffering from the often-silent killer, atrial fibrillation ("Afib"). Afib, an abnormality of the heart's rythym, creates a much greater risk of stroke and heart attacks. In addition to educating patients on the various ways to treat Afib, the more important service that he provides is a relatively new surgical procedure known as pulsed field ablation ("PFA"), which is a safe, outpatient noninvasive procedure isolating pulmonary veins from the damaged heart muscle tissue that is triggering the electrical activity within the heart that causes the heart to beat abnormally. Using special surgical tools and high pulse bursts, that damaged tissue is then rendered incapable of being a conductor for the harmful electrical pulses. This process leaves the affected pulmonary veins intact, which is safer for the patient and an effective means of restoring normal heart rythym
