Patient
I would honestly like to write a good review on Dr. Khan but my experience was just awful. He correctly diagnosed me with AFib while in hospital and prescribed meds after diagnosis. Within a week, I was experiencing escalating shortness of breath and was lightheaded. Rather then change my medication, he added a diuretic and wanted me to wear a heart monitor. Two problems. They had a waiting list for heart monitors and it is now well over two weeks. Two, he was aware of both my dehydration issue and that my creatinine levels were spiking and rather than reevaluating the meds he prescribed, he added a diuretic. But being the good patient, I followed his counsel. My shortness of breath continued as did my dizziness but I did pee a lot. A few days later, I almost passed out (later learning it was related to a blood pressure drop due to dehydration). We immediately called his office during office hours, not once but three times and asked what to do. No one returned my call. I went by ambulance a different hospital and called his office again asking him to call me so so I could update him and figure out what to do....again no response. I was introduced to a new staff cardiologist who ran all the tests, stabilized my blood pressure and fixed my breathing by changing my meds. Neither Dr. Khan nor his staff ever called me to follow up. I know this sounds surreal but I am a good patient, follow instructions as dictated and am always respectful. I am new to AFib but I am not new to understanding the difference between good and bad medical care. NO ONE should be on a waiting list for a heart monitor from a cardiologist. NO ONE should be prescribed a diuretic under my medical circumstances. And EVERYONE deserves a call from their cardiologist or his nursing desk when they are re-hospitalized and a very minimum, deserves a follow up after they are discharged for next steps. I hope he reads this. I hope he understands that he and his staff failed to provide an appropriate level of care...and I hope you choose your cardiologist more carefully than I did.
