Corpus Christi Medical Center Bay Area

I recently had surgery at your hospital and i couldn't be more grateful for care I received, as soon as I checked in every staff member made me feel comfortable, supported and well informed. The nurses were very attentive to me responding quickly to anything I needed and always explaining to me what was happening. My surgeon and surgical team was outstanding. They walked me thru every step which helped ease my nerves. The recovery staff was excellent, they continuously checked on my comfort, pain levels, and progress and felt like I was in good hands. I am very thankful for the compassion and professionalism throughout my stay. I would highly recommend this hospital to anyone needing surgery or medical care.

Brought my husband into the ER last night for a possible stroke and very high blood sugar. He was unable to walk without collapsing, couldn't talk, no vision, very scarey. At first the triage team was impressive with their coordinated assessment of my husband's medical needs. But, it ended there. The rest of the night and all day today and into tonight, my husband has been mostly ignored. There has not been a treatment team assigned and getting any info from anyone has been like pulling teeth. He was given an ultrasound of his heart at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday and not one single doctor or nurse have yet to discuss the results with us. We literally still do not know if my husband had a stroke last night or not, and have no idea why he is even still here. This has been a huge waste of time and resources and I'm pretty sure he is going to get dressed any minute now and leave AMA. But no one knows what that medical advice might be. We have always had the highest regard for Bay Area since they saved my husband's life three years ago following a horrific motorcycle crash that broke parts of his body we didn't even know could be broken, such as the roof of his mouth. But, after this visit our confidence in Bay Area has been thoroughly shattered. And it sucks not to have a trusted medical center on your side.

I have everything good to say about my treatment at this hospital. The staff was polite, informative and treated me as a guest even though I was there for a procedure. The day surgical team made me feel confident that I choose the right group. I especially want to compliment my nurse Savannah who took care of me in recovery. It was a long day and she was always kind and efficient. Thanks to Dr. Sherriff and team.

The beginning and the end were my issues with my care here. On arrival, there were no clear instructions on how to check in and let your staff know I have arrived. After knocking on the glass window for a while, someone came out and asked me for my info. We sat there waiting watching every other patient go through the same frustration until we'd tell them to call that number on the stand. Put a simple laptop to sign in or even cheaper, a sign in clipboard, which everyone looks for, with visible instructions right on the clipboard to call that number. Again, that assumes everyone has a cellphone. As to my issue with the end of my care, I felt like I was rushed out because everyone wanted to go home. My 2 1/2 surgery was pushed several times and didn't start until around 2:30pm, starting my recovery starting at 5pm. I felt like I was being rushed, to wake up, to sit up when I couldn't even open my eyes. Then they quickly wanted me into a recliner and trying to lightly push trying to drink something. I may have snapped "no" a couple of times after feeling rushed. It was not very long after that, the two nurses wanted to put an abdomen support band, then if I was ready to get dressed. I didn't feel like I was fully awake nor ready. I could see the two nurses were the only ones left in the facility. Guess they wanted to go home. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but It was not my fault my surgery was pushed so late in the afternoon. The hospital should schedule sufficient outpatient care for these scheduling occurrences and the late staff should not make patients feel like they're trying to push them out the door. I understand I was under the influence of meds, pain and very sensitive to any issues; as such, the staff should be even more aware of their actions with recovering patients. As to all the other nurses in between, in prep for surgery, holding area, surgery staff, next day wellness call, and my surgeon, all were compassionate, professional and caring. Please consider my two simple recommendations that will solve my issues and help patients after me.

The best birthing hospital in the world , I've gave birth to all my children here and my last experience was wonderful like all my others , medication for contractions did change it helps instantly and nurses did great focusing on pain control !! I love my Dr. Vega he's the greatest !! he remembers me after years of visiting, and is always so full of energy !!
