Rodney Horton, MD

I had an excellent visit with Dr. Horton. He spent about 45 minutes providing me details about my upcoming procedures. He clearly described the process and what to expect. He was very well spoken and he had a comforting mannerism.

We showed up for a 1:45 appointment and left at 4:00pm without ever seeing Dr. Horton ! We saw 2 nurses and a physicians assistant ... very disappointing. This is not the first time I've had this happen with this office. Also, the monitor service is very iffy. I have had episodes and got no call from them such that I am not sure what they do since, if I have an issue, I'll call 911 and not push the record button. What does it do if they are supposedly monitoring it all the time? I inquired about getting a pace maker or watchman so I could discontinue blood thinners and was told I did not have enough ablations yet to qualify. My brother has a watchman so I am considering finding another doctor.

Always gets it done and does it well. He's performed minor surgeries on me involving my heart 3 times and no negative experiences. Plus follow ups and responses to portal messages always prompt and appreciated.

Dr. Horton implanted a pacemaker in Oct. 2023. I had not seen him since Jan 24. I would have liked to talk to him and have my questions answered by the person who implanted a Watchman and performed several ablations rather than the PA who saw me.

I really enjoyed my virtual visit with Dr. Horton. I had a list of 10 or more questions about my heart health. Dr. Horton took the time answer every one of them very thoroughly. I feel fortunate to be in care of Dr. Horton and the medical team at the Texas Cardiac Arrhythmia Institute.
