Life-Changing results! Dr. Jordan Handcox did a total hip replacement (THA) using the anterior approach which is her certified specialty. Now at 3 months post-op recovery, I'm back to normal activities minus the limp and all the osteoarthritis pain. Back in the gym, full range of motion, walking gait normal, no pain. Totally awesome to be back up to speed, I was a very active 75 prior to accelerated decline in cartilage wearing out on the ball joint of my right hip. Don't hesitate to see Dr. Handcox for a consultation and exam if you have hip pain, the pain only gets worse. This surgery is truly miraculous. Dr. Handcox and her team is always straightforward with user-friendly explanations so patients fully understand about the surgery itself and recovery. Her team coordinated all the details prior to surgery; gave me clear instructions on navigating the check-in process on the day of surgery at BSW Austin-Oak Hill. The nursing staff was incredibly attentive and caring during my overnight stay at Oak Hill. Dr. Handcox came to check on me twice. And her team streamlined the transfer process the next morning with transportation to Encompass Rehabilitation Hospital. I highly recommend the inpatient recovery at Encompass for a 7-14 day stay after surgery. The in-patient rehabilitation period is typically covered by insurance/medicare, and includes 24 hour nursing staff, pain management, and daily rehab sessions that include all the training and therapy devices you'll need for doing your daily activities after you return home. Just ask Dr. Handcox and her team can help coordinate the whole process prior to surgery date. It's life-changing!
