About as pissed with a provider as I can be! As they say, a doctor is only as a good as his staff. After driving 3 hours for her apt, my 82 year old mother was 10 minutes late for her appointment FOR THE FIRST TIME and they turned her away. Mind you, my mother has followed him from Amarillo to Pampa (while living in Clovis, NM) because she likes him and trusts his direction. However there are always issue with his office- from sending her next door for a test and failing to send over the orders (then closing for lunch) or heaven help you in getting through to the office via phone and when you do there is always a long hold time involved. At her last appointment, Dr. Carthel personally told my mother that if there were any other issues, to please make him aware. So today, after they turned her away I called his office and let them know that I wanted confirmation of Dr. Carthel being aware of the situation- After a 20 minute hold, Ashley got my number for somebody to return my call. 30 minutes later Chelsea called me back to explain that they have to keep their policies or they will not get out timely at night (which for the record, working in an office myself, I get policies on appointments, however again, this was her first time to EVER be late to his office and she was 10 minutes late....).
